Scenario Builder

Scenario Builder Overview

The Scenario Builder is a powerful tool designed to facilitate the rapid creation of master and transactional data for testing, demonstrations, and training purposes. It enables users to efficiently develop and execute scenarios within the SAP Transportation Management (TM) system.

Computer screen displaying the Scenario Builder interface. The left panel lists various scenario templates such as SAP_DRIVER_PLANNING, SAP_GANTT_CHART_RES_AND_DOC, SAP_LOCAL_DISTRIBUTION_SCENARIO, SAP_MANUAL_PLANNING_SCENARIO, and SAP_ROAD_CARRIER_SCENARIO. The right panel shows details for the selected template SAP_DRIVER_PLANNING, including options for Master Data, Application, Report Variants, Summary, and Administration. The Transportation Network section includes Locations, Transportation Zones, and Transportation Lanes. The Resources section includes Vehicle Resources.

Administrators can use Scenario Builder to create comprehensive scenario templates, encompassing all necessary data, including system objects and customization settings, required for running a scenario in TM.

Testers can easily browse available scenario templates and generate their own copies of the scenario data within the system. This approach eliminates uncertainties related to the required data and significantly reduces the time spent on test preparation.

Key Features

  • Comprehensive Data Inclusion: Administrators can incorporate both customization data and various system objects into a scenario template, ensuring that all elements needed for scenario execution are included.
  • Reusable Templates: Once created, scenario templates can be reused indefinitely by an unlimited number of users, offering efficiency and consistency across multiple test cases.
  • Personalized Data Copies: Scenario Builder allows each user to generate individual copies of the scenario data, enabling multiple users to work concurrently with the same data without conflicts. This feature is particularly beneficial for group testing, workshops, and collaborative exercises.
  • Template Portability: Scenario templates can be exported and shared for collaboration or local editing, providing flexibility for teams working across different environments.

Note

The Scenario Builder is intended specifically for demonstration, testing, and proof of concept purposes. It's not designed for use in live operational environments.

Personal Prefixes

Personal prefixes allow users of a scenario template to generate scenario data using unique identifiers such as their initials or user ID. This ensures that each user works with their own version of the scenario data, allowing for simultaneous usage without interference.

  • With Sample Data: The system generates sample data, and you will receive Excel files containing this data format.
  • Without Sample Data: The system provides empty Excel files for you to populate with your own data.
