After you have familiarized yourself with the navigation in the tabular planning table, you learn how requirements of operations can be dispatched.
Dispatching an Operation: Finite Scheduling Forwards

If you want to dispatch requirements of operations using finite scheduling, you must set the Finite scheduling indicator in the strategy profile and specify the planning direction.
As an example, the following scenario is described in the figure, Dispatching an Operation: Finite Scheduling Forwards:
In the strategy profile, the Finite scheduling and Planning direction forwards indicators are set. An operation with a total requirement of 2,8 H and a planned start date on 21.05.2019 is selected. The operation is to be dispatched to its planned work center T-BC300 that has an operating time of 7 hours and 1 individual capacity. This means that the work center has an available capacity of 7 hours per day. After you have chosen the Dispatch function, the system attempts to dispatch the operation on the planned date. Because there is not enough available capacity on this date, the system searches in the forward direction until it finds a period with sufficient available capacity. The operation is dispatched to this period.
If the planning direction is Backwards the system would search for available capacity in the backward direction.
Dispatching an Operation: Finite Scheduling Forwards: Capacity Distribution

The duration of an operation can extend over several periods. A distribution key determines how the total capacity requirement of the operation is distributed over the periods. When dispatching the operation, this capacity distribution is taken into account.
The following example scenario is described in the figure Dispatching an Operation: Finite Scheduling Forwards Capacity Distribution:
In the strategy profile, the Finite scheduling and Planning direction forwards indicators are set. An operation with a total requirement of 24 H and a planned start date on 10.05.2019 is selected. The operation is to be dispatched to its planned work center T-BC100 that has an operating time of 7 hours and 4 individual capacities. This means that the work center has an available capacity of 28 hours per day. The capacity requirements of the operation are distributed over 4 periods as shown in the figure. After you have chosen the Dispatch function, the system attempts to dispatch the operation on the planned date. Because there is not enough free capacity available for four consecutive periods on this date, the system searches in the forward direction until it finds four consecutive periods with sufficient free capacity. The operation is dispatched to these periods.
If the planning direction is Backwards, the system would search for available capacity in the backward direction.
Dispatching an Operation to a Certain Work Center and Period

If you want to dispatch an operation to a certain work center and a certain period, you can proceed as follows:
You select the operation to be dispatched, the desired target work center, and the desired target period. Then choose the Dispatch function.

If you want to dispatch an operation to a particular work center and period, you can alternatively proceed as follows:
You select the operation to be dispatched and choose the Dispatch manually function. A dialog box appears in which you can select the desired target work center and enter the desired date.
