Adopting Integration Flows

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to understand the basics of integration flows.

Integration Workflows

Integration workflows are essential for transforming and sending messages to destination systems, ensuring seamless communication and data exchange across your enterprise landscape.

Workflows are pivotal in transforming and routing messages to their respective destination systems. While the core data for these configuration parameters resides on the SAP Cloud Integration side, the Workflow Configuration app empowers you to directly configure these parameters within the integration layer. This streamlined approach not only simplifies the customization process but also ensures that your integration workflows are optimized for your specific operational needs.

The following architecture shows the overall architecture of SAP S/4HANA and SAP Digital Manufacturing integration.

The diagram illustrates how data from Production Process & Public API within SAP BTP flows securely through a firewall via a Secure Tunnel to an on-premise SAP S/4HANA or Business Suite system. This flow leverages a Cloud Connector and involves communication protocols like REST, IDOC/BAPI, and RFC.

You use workflows to transform and send messages to destination systems. Data for these configuration parameters is essentially on the SAP Cloud Integration side, but through SAP DM you can directly configure the parameters on the integration side.

Note

SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud Integration can't be leveraged on integration adoption.

Key Features

Workflow Configuration Management: Access and manage your integration workflows directly through the Workflow Configuration app within SAP Digital Manufacturing.

Pre-Defined Extension Points: Leverage well-defined and pre-existing extension points in the integration layer to extend and customize workflows without extensive reconfiguration.

Direct Parameter Configuration: Configure essential data parameters directly on the integration side, streamlining the process and enhancing efficiency.

You can find more information on SAP Cloud Integration here. Further extensibility methods will be shown in the last unit.
