Managing Mobile Engage Campaigns in SAP Emarsys

Mobile Engage Overview

SAP Emarsys Mobile Engage enables businesses to integrate their mobile applications with SAP Emarsys in order to send real time messages.​

Mobile Engage connects through Push notifications, In-app and Inbox messages, sending personalized content to improve engagement, retention, and revenue.

Mobile Engage Push Overview

SAP Emarsys Mobile Engage Push is a feature that sends personalized Push notification messages to mobile app users, enabling direct and targeted engagement with the audience.​

Creating a Mobile Engage Push Campaign​

Before creating a new Push campaign, let’s check the Push Messages tab.​

On this page, you can see the following:​

  1. Message name​

  2. Recipient source​

  3. Status​

  4. App name ​

  5. Push type​

  6. Created​

  7. Changed

Now, let’s create our Push campaign by clicking on 'Create Push Message.’

General Settings steps:​

  1. Enter a name for your Push message.​

  2. Select the application you want to send the Push notification to.​

  3. Define the 'Recipient source' for your Push message.​

  4. Use the 'Apply segment criteria for devices' option to enable device - level filtering (for example, only iOS devices or those in a specific time zone).​

  5. You can reuse 'Internal ID' if you've previously sent a Push message and want to update its content instead of creating a new message.

Automation Program:

  • If Automation is selected in the recipient source, click "Ready to Launch" in the Push campaign.​

  • Then, navigate to AutomationAutomation Programs.​

  • On your program, choose Edit.​

  • Double-click on the 'Mobile Engage Push Message' node.​

  • Select your Push campaign.

Mobile Engage Push Reporting Page​

To view the performance of a specific Mobile Engage Push campaign, click the reporting icon next to the campaign on the Push Messages tab. ​

This page provides the following information: ​

  1. Time range settings: You can change the default timeframe.​

  2. Export button: Export and download current reporting data to a CSV file. ​

  3. View details: Display detailed campaign information such as:

  • Message name: Name of the Push message​

  • Interval: The selected time range​

  • App name: Name of the application​

  • Recipient source: The selected recipient source​

  • Segment name: Name of the selected segment

Mobile Engage In-App Overview

SAP Emarsys Mobile Engage In-app feature displays messages to users, responds to user behavior, directs attention, provides information, offers rewards, and promotes purchases within a mobile app.​

Creating a Mobile Engage In-App Campaign​

Before starting a new In-app campaign, let's review the In-app tab. This displays the details of all your In-app messages:​

  • Name​

  • Recipient source​

  • Status:​

    1. In design: Content or settings must be completed.​

    2. Launched: In-app campaign is active.

    3. Paused: The campaign is not displayed to contacts; you can edit its name, content, and scheduling settings while paused.

    4. Canceled: The launched campaign has been called off.

    5. Finished: The campaign is no longer active.​

  • App name​

  • In-app type​

  • Priority​

  • Created ​

  • Changed

Now, let’s create an Overlay In-app campaign by clicking on 'Create In-app Message' and selecting 'Overlay Message.'​

General Settings step:​

  1. Name your message.​

  2. Choose the target application.​

  3. Define Recipient Source:​

    • Broadcast: Message all contacts.​

    • Audience/Segment: Target specific segments and enable the update audience checkbox to keep the most up-to-date list of contacts. Choose an Audience, No Segment (Empty Audience) for using the campaign in an Automation program.​

    • Push Message: Display messages triggered by a linked Push Message.​

  4. Device-Level Filtering: Optionally, target specific devices, for example, iOS devices.

Automation Program:

  • Navigate to AutomationAutomation Programs.​

  • On your program, choose Edit.​

  • Double-click on the 'Mobile In-app – Add' node.​

  • Select your In-app campaign. ​

  • Do the same on the 'Mobile In-app —Remove' node. This prevents contacts from seeing your campaign.

Mobile Engage In-App Reporting Page​

To view statistics for a single Mobile Engage In-app campaign, click the reporting icon on the In-app Messages tab next to the campaign.​

  1. Export and download current reporting data to a CSV file. ​

  2. You can click 'View details', which displays several campaign information, such as recipient source and status.​

  3. After choosing the timeframe, you can view the number of targeted contacts, impressions, and clicks. ​

  4. You can also assess performance if your In-app is linked to Push campaigns. ​

  5. Donut charts visually represent impressions and clicks. You can also review the button click distribution. ​

  6. Line graphs show daily metrics for untargeted and targeted contacts, impressions, and clicks.

Note

You can navigate to the Dashboard tab to check the overall In-app impressions for a selected period.

Mobile Engage Inbox Overview

The SAP Emarsys Mobile Engage Inbox feature displays messages in a central area of your mobile app. It enables contacts to receive persistent, opt-in-free notifications that they can read and engage with repeatedly.​

Creating a Mobile Engage Inbox Campaign​

Before creating a new Inbox campaign, let’s check the Inbox campaign tab.​

This tab allows you to view the details of your Inbox campaigns.

Now, let’s create our Inbox campaign.

Automation Program:

  • Navigate to AutomationAutomation Programs.​

  • On your program, choose Edit.​

  • Double-click on the 'Mobile Inbox' node.​

  • Select your Inbox campaign.

Mobile Engage Inbox Reporting Page​

To access data for a specific Mobile Engage Inbox campaign, click the reporting icon on the Inbox Messages tab next to the campaign. ​

  1. You can export and download current reporting data to a CSV file and view campaign details.​

  2. Upon selecting the timeframe, you are presented with a summary, allowing you to delve deeper into the following details: ​

    • Sent: It denotes the time the messages were sent. ​

    • Open: It indicates the clicks on the message to open it from the Inbox Overview. ​

    • Pinned: It represents an additional function depending on your app, such as marking it as a favorite. ​

    • Seen: It reflects the number of contacts who have viewed the message in their Inbox Overview. ​

    • Undelivered: It shows the number of messages that could not be delivered.
