Note
The following examples are based on real implementation scenario but are exempt from details. Certain functionality is achieved through project-specific extension.
Pet Supplies Example: Flexible Sourcing with OAA, then OMSA
- When we came in, customer had homegrown solution for Sourcing which was then too static and looked already for longer time to get a replacement for this functionality.
- And they wanted to replace CRM over time as it is in maintenance only mode.
- The customer already had started with a CAR OAA project to replace their sourcing and wanted to have a more agile solution for Orders.
- So they have chosen OMF for their Order orchestration. OMF is handling both, Franchise orders and Webshop orders.

Coffee Example: Subscriptions, then Omnichannel Fulfillment
Customer wanted system support for their new started business model. Selling Coffee Abo´s with free of charge Coffe machine for the time of subscription.
They needed a system to orchestrate and automatically split the order into correct systems and assure recurrent orders and fulfillment.
OMF splits the orders into subscription item and "standard item". Split order with "standard items" is sent to CRM (CRM is due to be replaced over time), from there to SAP S/4HANA to be fulfilled. SAP S/4HANA sends back to OMF the fulfillment status.
Subscription item is sent to the Subscription Billing, which is triggering recurrent orders into OMF (this was done on a project base). OMF is creating a new order and orchestrates the received order data to CRM and thereafter the order fulfillment continues in SAP SAP S/4HANA.
Customer was interested in OMSA capabilities and already Bought license but will implement in later phase.

Grocery Example: Forecasting with Combined Orders, Order Split
OMS is meant to provide an orchestration layer on the one side and on the other side, to split the orders into different sources of supply and route them into correct fullfillment systems.
It can be direct shipment, drop shipment or 3rd party vendor shipment without the need to create different orders.
The Order Management foundation with it´s golden view of POS- and Sales order data, as well works as basis for the Demand Forecasting and Replenishment.

Hardware Example: Extend Assortment with Marketplace
In this Hardware/ Home improvement example, the customer is seeking for a system to integrate a Market place including many different vendors as well as their own systems to fulfill their orders.
Orders need to be split multiple times to be fulfilled from different vendors and multiple own systems.
Order Management foundation is not only splitting and routing the orders to fulfillment but also "listening" to information coming back (through events) from theses systems to update the order about fulfillmentstatus.
So it is creating transparency thorough the whole e2e process from webshop to fullfillment and also back to the webshop without the need to integrate the webshop to all different fulfillmentsystems.
