Configuring Training Settings for Micro Planning

Objectives

After completing this lesson, you will be able to:
  • Manage training intensity levels used to track intensity of players during micro planning
  • Create training objectives to manage the focus of training sessions during micro planning

Creation of Training Intensity Levels

The aim of micro planning is to make the training design as flexible as possible. A key aspect of this is to react quickly to fluctuating intensity levels that are outside the norm. If a player trains above their intensity limit, this can have negative effects on them. The player's susceptibility to injury can increase and their performance can decrease significantly. Therefore, it is important to adjust the intensity of the training for the player, a group of players, or the entire team as soon as a certain value is reached.

For this purpose, in SAP Sports One you are able to manage the training intensity levels to individually control and adjust intensity in micro planning. This enables targeted control to prevent potential negative effects on the players and to create optimal training conditions.

Note

To be able to manage the training intensity levels, you need the role of administrator and the corresponding permissions. An overview of all SAP Sports One user roles is available on the SAP Help Portal (User Roles | SAP Help Portal).

If you have the required permissions, you can manage the training intensity levels in SAP Sports One at Training Settings - Training Intensity Levels in the catalog.

By default, an intensity scale with the appropriate levels is already available for the training. To customize the intensity level according to your individual ideas, you must convert the current intensity level scale to a new one. Use drag and drop to map each intensity level to a new intensity. For example, you can assign two levels from the old scale to one new level. You can also change the color code for any new intensity level.

In the following example, we have included additional levels for better planning and regulation of training intensities. Feel free to customize individual levels.

Creation of Training Objectives for Micro Planning

Another training setting that we already know from previous units are the training objectives. So far, we have already created rough training objectives for a certain period in the macro planning in order to assign them to training phases. In this unit, we want to create and manage more detailed training objectives used for micro planning. These are more specific than the ones from macro planning and, therefore, can be assigned to training sessions as fundamental training objectives for the players.

Note

To be able to create and manage the training objectives, you need the role of administrator and the corresponding permissions. An overview of all SAP Sports One user roles is available on the SAP Help Portal (User Roles | SAP Help Portal).

If you have the required permissions, you can create training objectives in SAP Sports One at Training Settings - Training Objectives in the catalog.

To create training objectives for micro planning, add a category. To differentiate between macro and micro training objectives, we recommend using clear and distinguishable names. To identify a training objective category for micro planning, we recommend wordings such as AT - Athletics. This means that all objectives in this category belongs to the athletics area in training management. As soon as a category is created for macro planning, it will be available in the active training objective section. The category can be deleted and edited as soon as you open the menu on the right-hand side.

In the menu on the right-hand side, you are also able to create a training objective for the micro planning objective category. Here, you can create all detailed training objectives needed in your system to carry out micro planning correctly and effectively. These detailed training objectives can also be edited, deleted, merged, and relocated within the categories. In the tab on top, you also have the possibility to see which training objectives are inactive and, therefore, not yet in use. Last but not least, you are able to search for existing categories and training objectives using the search bar.

Note

Each club has a very different focus when it comes to carrying out micro planning. Therefore, feel free to create and manage your individual training objectives for each category and thus map the internal club processes in the best possible way.

Nevertheless, as a best practice for athletics and tactics, we suggest the following configurations for micro planning training objectives in SAP Sports One.
