Customizing Rating Scales for Assessments

Creation of Rating Scales

By entering an expected value for the expected skills, a rating scale is linked that can be used to assess a player's skills. This scale can vary depending on the group of people or raters in the club and can therefore differ depending on the rating scenarios. In SAP Sports One, it is therefore possible to create and assign rating scales. This allows custom scales to be used for rating players in training or for general skill assessments. This function enables the club to design its training management flexibly and to map its own processes in the best possible way.

Note

To be able to create and manage the rating scales, you need the role of administrator and the corresponding permission for the rating scales. An overview of all SAP Sports One user roles is available on the SAP Help Portal (User Roles | SAP Help Portal).

If you have the required permissions, you can manage the rating scales in SAP Sports One at Rating Scales in the catalog.

As you can see in the rating systems tab, there are by default already some rating scales available. If the appropriate rating scale is not available in this list, you are able to add your own scale. In the first step, please enter a name and select the type (icons or characters) of the scale. Afterwards, you can start to create the rating scale according to your own ideas and specifications. At this point, you are able to add grades which includes an icon or character and a short description.

Please note that the best grade has to be at the top of your scale

Besides the grades of the scale, you can define an icon or character and a description to be used if a rating is not possible.

Once you save the rating scale, you can always edit and delete it, but it will not be released to the rating scenarios. Release a rating scale to assign it to a rating scenario. Once released, you cannot edit or delete the rating scale.

Assignment of Rating Scales for Talent Management

As already mentioned, the rating scales can be assigned to the respective rating scenarios, regardless of whether they are the default scales from the system or your own ones. An existing scale is already assigned to the rating scenarios by default.

For training management, the rating scenarios of talent management, training session evaluation and internal player evaluation are particularly relevant. In this case, talent management represents the area of a players skill evaluation. This means that this scale refers to the previously created skill templates of a player per team and position.

If you have the required permissions, you can assign a rating scale for talent management in SAP Sports One at Assignment of Rating Scales for Talent Management in the catalog.

By clicking on the edit button, you are able to choose the rating scale you want to assign to training session evaluations. Afterwards, you must convert the old rating scale to the new one. To do so, please use drag and drop to map each old grade to a new grade.

On the other side, it is also possible to assign two grades from the old scale to one grade of the new scale.

The changes that have resulted from these adjustments can also be seen when looking at the skill template. The expected values have been adapted to the current scale for talent management.

Assignment of Rating Scales for Training Session Evaluation

In addition to talent management, it is also possible to customize the training session evaluation scale for the area of training management. Therefore, SAP Sports One offers you the same functionality to individually customize this rating scale for the respective rating scenario.

Here, the training session evaluation comprises the evaluation of the players that can be made for a training session. These training evaluations can be maintained directly in the Training Planner for all players participating in a training session later.

If you have the required permissions, you can assign a rating scale for training session evaluation in SAP Sports One at Assignment of Rating Scales for Training Session Evaluation in the catalog.

The assignment of rating scales for training session evaluations works the same way as described for the assignment of rating scales for talent management.

Assignment of Rating Scales for Internal Player Evaluation

Last but not least, it is also useful to customize the scale for the internal player evaluation for training management. Therefore, SAP Sports One offers you the functionality to individually customize this rating scale for the respective rating scenario.

The internal player evaluation includes a player's rating to reflect the player's development and training focus categories. These evaluations also form the framework for the target agreements of the players at the beginning of a season and the target validations at the end of the season.

If you have the required permissions, you can assign a rating scale for the internal player evaluation in SAP Sports One at Rating System Assignment For Internal Player Evaluation in the catalog. You are also able to assign a rating scale for the overall rating and the category rating of the internal player evaluation.

The assignment of rating scales for the internal player evaluation works the same way as described for the assignment of rating scales for talent management and training session evaluation.
