A dummy asset value represents a hypothetical or artificial asset that mimics the characteristics of a real asset. In this lesson, we explore the steps involved in creating a dummy asset.
Users should create a dummy asset value when they need to create a requisition with a line item using Account Assignment Category A (Asset) in the SAP Ariba Procurement Solutions. This can be achieved by enabling the Asset Management feature on SAP Ariba Procurement solutions. When the feature is enabled, users can integrate the asset management component on SAP ERP or SAP S/4HANA (on premise) with SAP Ariba Procurement solutions using Managed Gateway.
An asset ID is required to create a purchase requisition with a line item having Account Assignment Category A (Asset) in the SAP Ariba Procurement Solutions. In the absence of a valid asset ID, you can use a dummy asset value in your SAP A/4HANA (on-premise) system and export it to SAP Ariba Procurement Solutions. You can process a change requisition later to update the asset details.
In SAP ERP or SAP S/4HANA (on premise), to create an asset, it needs to be associated with a relevant asset class. Using the Managed Gateway you can export the asset class master data from SAP ERP or SAP S/4HANA (on premise) to SAP Ariba Procurement solutions. Only the Full Load import is supported for asset class master data.
After the asset is created and the purchase requisition is approved, buyers can create a purchase order for the asset.
