Defining a Replication Model for Supplier Data Replication in MDG

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to define the replication model within your SAP system for supplier data integration

Defining a Replication Model

The SAP Data Replication Framework (DRF) is essential for distributing and synchronizing master data across SAP and non-SAP systems. It ensures that data is replicated accurately and efficiently in real-time or through batch processing while maintaining consistency and integrity across all connected systems.

The SAP DRF facilitates seamless, automated, and error-free data replication among various systems. It is crucial in supplier management, procurement, and ensuring enterprise-wide master data consistency, enhancing business process efficiency and compliance.

DRF is primarily used for replicating master data, such as suppliers, customers, and business partners, from SAP S/4HANA or SAP ERP to external systems. This tool guarantees that all connected systems maintain consistent and up-to-date master data. It works with SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) to distribute validated, approved, and governed master data, ensuring that only clean and accurate data is sent to other systems.

DRF supports several replication methods, including:

  • Real-time replication: Immediate data updates.
  • Scheduled batch processing: Optimized system performance.
  • Manual replication: Controlled data distribution.

In SAP Ariba Supplier Lifecycle and Performance integration, DRF replicates supplier master data from SAP ERP or SAP S/4HANA (on-premise) or from SAP MDG-S to SAP Ariba Supplier Lifecycle and Performance. It synchronizes supplier updates, such as company details, tax information, and payment terms, and ensures real-time supplier onboarding and approval workflows between SAP Ariba Supplier Lifecycle and Performance and the SAP system.

Defining the replication model is done in SAP ERP or SAP S/4HANA (on-premise) only when there is a single SAP backend system. In a multi-ERP environment, this configuration is managed in SAP MDG-S.

In this simulation, you'll learn how to define a Data Replication Framework (DRF) in the SAP System:

Once the Data Replication Model is fully configured and activated, you can execute the DRFOUT report. This report will transfer supplier records from the SAP system to SAP Ariba Supplier Lifecycle and Performance.

In the selection screen for the DRFOUT report, be sure to select the same Data Replication Model and Outbound Implementation.
