Check Tool

Business Scenario

Multiple employees have reported seeing inconsistent data in their employee records. The information in Employee Central doesn't match the information in the talent solutions. As an administrator, you are tasked to troubleshoot and resolve the issue or raise a ticket.

What is the Check Tool?

Suppose your SAP SuccessFactors applications are behaving in unexpected ways. In such a case, you likely have some inconsistent data or a configuration error.

The Check Tool quickly identifies these types of problems and helps to avoid support tickets. You might still need to create a support ticket if the problem is severe, but even in extreme cases, the Check Tool can save you time because it can export the check results and your configuration for support. The support engineer, therefore, can identify the issue more quickly.

Different Check Types

The type of check analysis follows a specific purpose:

  • System Health - Checks that run without parameters. Checks configuration and data issues that need to be fixed.
  • Validation - Checks that require one or more input parameters to run, for example, a specific template, user, or time frame.
  • Migration - Checks that perform an automatic migration of features.

Quick Fixes in Check Tool

The Check Tool includes a quick fix feature that you can use to immediately correct issues found during a check run. The Result tab displays the Quick Fix button under Proposed Solution. Selecting the Quick Fix button initiates the automated fix.

Prerequisites

To use the Check Tool, ensure that you have the proper permissions:

  • Access Check Tool permission authorizes users to access the tool.
  • Allow Configuration Export permission authorizes users to attach configuration information to a ticket in cases where they need to create one.
  • Allow Check Tool Quick Fix permission authorizes users to fix configuration and data issues.

Steps in Running a Check Analysis

  1. Set check tool permissions.
  2. Select the check type that you want to perform.
  3. Execute the corresponding check analysis.
  4. Select Quick Fix in the Results tab.
  5. Select and confirm the correction.

When the Check Tool reports a severe issue that you can't solve, you might need to contact Product Support. You can create a support ticket using the Check Information provided in the check results.

Summary

The Check Tool is a convenient troubleshooting tool for administrators to quickly verify issues and execute fixes in SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite.
