Out-of-the-Box Domain Models

SAP Master Data Governance on SAP S/4HANA provides out-of-the-box, domain-specific master data domains with the option to extend these as per your business requirement. The figure SAP Master Data Governance on SAP S/4HANA Domains shows out-of-the-box and customer specific master data domains and their relationship.

This graphic shows the relationship between Out-of-the-Box domain specific solutions delivered by SAP and the domains implemented by customers using SAP Master Data Governance extensible application framework.

The out-of-the-box domain solutions include:

SAP Master Data Governance, Customer (corporate, company, and sales-related data, partner functions).
SAP Master Data Governance, Supplier (corporate, company, and purchasing related data, partner functions).
SAP Master Data Governance, Product (corporate, sales org., plant, storage, warehouse, valuation, and costing data).
SAP Master Data Governance, Financials (financial accounting/consolidation data, companies, profit, and cost centers).
SAP Master Data Governance, retail, and fashion management extension by Prometheus Group* (single and generic article, listings, hierarchies, characteristics for variants, and so on).
SAP Master Data Governance, enterprise asset management extension by Prometheus Group* (equipment, functional location data, MRO bills of material, and so on).

In addition to the predefined content, customers can also use SAP Master Data Governance as a platform to create "custom-defined objects" to cover many more domains, for example, reference data.

Note

*The solution extensions for Retail and Fashion Management and Enterprise Asset Management are available as add-ons. They are NOT an integral part of the SAP S/4HANA shipment. However, the software license for the solution extensions can be purchased directly from SAP and support can be availed through the SAP Support Portal.

Extensibility Options

A major emphasis of SAP Master Data Governance has been on reusability and extensibility, as shown in the next figure.

The graphic shows the reusability and extensibility of SAP Master Data Governance by extending or reusing core processes and creating your processes as per the business need.

SAP Master Data Governance offers the flexibility and extensibility features to adapt the standard content to your business needs. This means that you can benefit from SAP Master Data Governance's out-of-the-box capabilities, which can be further extended.

With the extension capability, you can:

Reuse standard content: Reuse existing data structures and functionality of SAP S/4HANA
Enhance functionality: Enhance SAP Master Data Governance functionality, for example, workflows, data models, based on predefined content or customer-specific extensions
Extend data structures: Extend data models, user interfaces, processes, and so on, by additional fields or attributes
