Discovering the Rates 2.0 Structure

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to explain the structure of a rate using the Rates 2.0 configuration

Rates 2.0

Rates 2.0 reduces the complexities and time commitment required when creating rate structures, whilst maintaining the comprehensiveness and overall capabilities of Rates 1.0.

Simply put, rates that are based on multiple conditions can now be managed within a lookup table that incorporates each rate variable to determine the correct rate for each given scenario.

Within the Rates 2.0 structure, what was originally captured in a Rate Card structure is now captured within a Custom Lookup, which drives custom logic and allows companies to manage large amounts of data outputs for varying inputs, across many areas of the SAP Fieldglass application.

The elements of a rate structure using Rates 2.0 comprise:

  • Rate Category
  • Rate
  • Custom Lookup(s)
the building blocks of a rate structure in rates 2.0, where rate categories are combined into the rate admin object, and a custom lookup is used to find the appropriate rate value

While the principle of configuring from the bottom up still applies with Rates 2.0 as shown here, Rate Groups and Rate Grids are eliminated from the process.

The Rate Admin Object in Rates 2.0

There are a number of differences in the way the Rate admin object is used in Rates 1.0 and Rates 2.0. Rates 2.0 has removed a number of structures to make creating a rate significantly easier.
