With Rates 2.0, the purpose of the Rate Admin object ultimately changes and no longer contains the rate values themselves. Instead, it is simply used as a placeholder which allows for different categories of rates, essentially combining a Rate Category with a Unit of Measure. Previously, the Admin object for a Rate was a combination of all the variables that comprise a worker rate, configured as a Rate Code, along with the resulting amount or value. So if your standard hourly rates varied by Job Title, Supplier, and Site, you may have a rate admin object that looked like this, an administrator from the supplier reCrewIT in Chicago at a standard hourly rate of 95. When using Rates 2.0, all of the variables that differentiate a worker rate still apply, but are reduced to a much smaller volume of Rate Codes that need to be created, usually one standard, overtime, and double time rate. The elements that define the worker rate—Job Title, Supplier, Site, Rate Category and Unit of Measure— are captured instead within a Custom Lookup table, rather than the Rate Code itself. When creating a Rate using Rates 2.0, there are now only two possible options when defining how the final rate will be calculated. Rate, which is used to combine each Rate Category and Unit of Measure —such as standard time an hourly— into one object, and Calculated Rate, which is a type of rate dependent on either a factor or, when more complex calculations are required, a Rate Rule. For example, instead of being defined numbers, the rate value per hour of overtime or double time is instead calculated from the standard hourly rate. These options are generally reduced from the 15 different rate types available when using the Rates 1.0 structure, but still provide the same benefits.
