Testing Forms on the Client

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to create test data files

Test Data Files

Local Test Data File

A test data file must be structured with leading <data> and trailing </data>. Field names are case-sensitive. The individual rows of internal tables must be embraced by <DATA> and </DATA>.

To create test data for Adobe LiveCycle Designer using transaction SFP, set Trace Level to Very Detailed Trace.

This attaches a number of documents to the main PDF document. You can also specify that an extra copy of this main document, including all of its attachments, is saved locally.

These settings are user-specific and are valid for one session. They are not restricted to a specific form or program. If there are several print requests, the corresponding files will be overwritten unless different names are specified. If, however, several forms are issued in one print job, the runtime data is numbered sequentially.

Creating Test Data Automatically

To use the download and trace functionality, you must have authorization for debugging. During background processing, only Very Detailed Trace works.

Business Example

A travel agency wants to use SAP Forms service by Adobe to print invoices for its customers' flight bookings. The form template has been created already, but there is no form layout yet. Before you start, you want to explore preview options in Adobe LiveCycle Designer.

Follow the simulation to learn how to preview a form and create a test data file.
