Business Scenario: Introducing Powertools

Powertools sells power tools. It's a fictional business-to-business (B2B) company that could be located anywhere. Powertools is used as an example to show the integration of SAP S/4HANA Cloud and SAP Commerce Cloud for a sales order fulfillment business process. John Smith and Min Li are also fictional. For the purposes of our story, they're integration developers working for Powertools on this project to integrate the two systems for the needed sales order fulfillment scenario. John is on the SAP S/4HANA Cloud side and Min SAP Commerce Cloud. Their project will also involve the use of the SAP Cloud Integration capability of SAP Business Technology Platform's (BTP) Integration Suite.

So, here's the situation:

Powertools' loyal and expanding customer base keep its sales managers busy on the phone and email taking orders. It's a struggle to keep up. It's also an unnecessarily time consuming and annoyingly error prone manual entry to their back-end SAP S/4HANA Cloud system.

Powertools' management has decided to launch an SAP Commerce web store where customers could browse, compare, and order power tools online. This launch would streamline the sales process, reducing errors and sales managers' workloads. Instead of sales managers entering phone or email orders, customers would enter their own via the web store that would be automatically integrated with the SAP S/4HANA Cloud back end. Error-free processing and fulfillment would be the result. Company management is sure this will be a game-changer.
