Replicating Master Data from SAP S/4HANA Cloud

Objectives

After completing this lesson, you will be able to:
  • Explain the need of replicating the master data between the two systems
  • Replicate master data manually
  • Verify data replication in SAP Commerce Cloud
  • Define master data filter criteria for automatic replication

Explain the Need of Replicating the Master Data Between the Two Systems

In an integrated environment, master data is needed in more than one location. Therefore, it is essential to replicate and synchronize it. For example, a sales order fulfillment process spanning SAP S/4HANA Cloud and SAP Commerce Cloud requires Customers, Contacts and Materials master data from S/4HANA Cloud to also be used in SAP Commerce Cloud.

How to Replicate Master Data Manually

Master data can be replicated between two systems:

  • Manually
  • By automated or delta replication

To manually replicate master data, use the Replicate by Replication Model tile under Data Replication. You can use this tile to send data individually, or for the initial load of your master data.

Verify Data Replication In SAP Commerce Cloud

To validate the product data replication in SAP Commerce Cloud, we can navigate to the Backoffice and check the imported Product items.

  1. Log on to the SAP Commerce Cloud Backoffice as an administrator.
  2. In the Backoffice Administration Cockpit, chooseCatalogProducts.
  3. Choose the Advanced Search button (telescope icon) to bring up the Advanced Search area.
  4. In the Article Number field enter PSR, in the Catalog version field, choose the Catalog_1710_10:ERP_IMPORT from the dropdown.
  5. Choose the Search button. You’ll see the product data replicated from SAP S/4HANA Cloud as material master data.

How to Define Master Data Filter Criteria for Automatic Replication

For automated, or delta, replication, you require the correct filters to be in place, so only relevant data is distributed to the system environment. In the following demonstration, we will set up a filter to only replicate relevant Product Master Data. The filter criteria will differ depending on your business requirements. Once the filter is in place, it will detect master data changes and replicate those automatically.
