Model Product Specifications
Model Product Specification is a structured set of related services and materials that can be used as a template for procurement processes or documents, such as purchase contracts. You use model product specifications to group services and materials frequently ordered together to complete a particular task. You can further categorize the service and materials within a model product specification by grouping them into item sets.
You can create up to five levels in an item hierarchy. This doesn't affect the number of items you can add.
Purchasers can use the Manage Model Product Specifications app to create and manage model product specifications. You can create purchase contracts based on (parts of) model product specifications.
It is possible to import model product specifications using spreadsheets. A job is scheduled when you upload a spreadsheet to create or change model product specifications. You can monitor these jobs using the Monitor Jobs for Model Product Specifications app to track whether your upload was successful.
In model product specifications, you use item hierarchies to structure your items.
An item hierarchy is a means of grouping items (services or materials) in purchasing documents. An item hierarchy can consist of one or multiple item sets with subitems. This way, you can structure and sort your items.
The Manage Model Product Specifications app is not enabled by default in your S/4HANA Cloud system. You can enable it by activating the item hierarchies in your system using the configuration app Activate Item Hierarchies in Purchasing. Once you activate this, the Manage Model Product Specifications app, including the item hierarchy function, will be available.
When you activate this function in your system, you cannot switch it off again.
Depending on the way your system is managed, you can access the app by navigating
- Using Manage Your Solution: Manage Your Solution → Configure Your Solution → Sourcing and Procurement: General Settings → Item Hierarchy → Activate Item Hierarchies in Purchasing : Configure
- Using SAP CBC: Activities → Business Process Configuration → Procurement → Procurement Basic Settings → Activate Item Hierarchies in Purchasing.
