Situation Handling Extended Framework 

Situation handling automatically detects exceptional circumstances in your business and informs the right users about them. With the extended framework of situation handling, you can now create your own situation use cases using three new configuration apps. Manage Situation Objects, Manage Situation Scenarios, and Manage Situation Types Extended. It also contains the My Situations Extended app for end users. And you can check out pre-delivered demo use cases with the new Situation Handling Demo app, a fictional flight booking portal. As a first step, conceptualize the business scope for your custom use cases by analyzing the pain points that you want to handle. In our demo case, we want to analyze flight profitability, which includes unsold flights, overbooked flights, and fines due to violations on ecological footprint thresholds. To create custom use cases, you start with Situation Objects. A Situation Object represents a business object that reuses application artifacts. In our demo case, we're using the Situation Objects Flight and Booking. You select the CDS view that represents the object's data and events that trigger situations. Then you choose actions and navigation targets to related apps that support the user in solving situations based on these objects. In the next step, you define the business scope in a situation scenario, in this case, flight profitability. To do this, you connect the situation objects by first selecting the anchor object that is affected by the situations, and then defining the related trigger objects. In our example, the anchor object is the flight object. The related trigger objects can be the anchor object itself, and other objects. In our example, we use the flight object and the booking object. You also define the data that is later displayed for these objects in the My Situations extended app to help end users solve situations. From the situation scenario, you can derive multiple situation templates that serve as blueprints for productive use cases. For our demo scenario, we have defined the use cases sales rate, booking rate, and ecological footprint. In the final step, you create a situation type, refine the configuration for a specific use case, and transport it to the productive system to create situations. This four-layer approach lets you configure your custom use cases in a generic yet controlled way.
