Configuring the Setup of a Flow Definitions

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to analyze the purpose and key components of configuring flow section types.

Introduction

You will explore the essential concepts and configurations related to Flow Section Types, a key component of the SAP Cell and Gene Therapy Orchestration solution. You will learn how to create and manage these flow sections, understand the difference between Goods Flow and Flow Node categories, and discover the role of Location Rules in mapping the organization's locations.

Flow Section Types

In the SAP Cell and Gene Therapy Orchestration solution, this application can be found under the Configuration tab or use Configure Flow Section Types in the open search section to access it. The Flow Section Type is used to specify the flow steps throughout the Supply Chain using the Category.

The image shows the main menu options in an SAP application, including Configuration, Master Data, Treatment Management, and other sections. Within the Configuration section, there are two options displayed: Configure Flow Section Types and Configure Number Range.

Configuring Flow Section Types

Click on Create as pointed to in the figure above on how to create a new entry.

The Configuration consists of the following:

  • Unique ID of 20 Characters
  • Description of 250 Characters
  • Checkbox to mark Processing Activity relevant
  • Checkbox to mark Shipment mandatory
  • Address types of Pickup Address, Delivery Address and Main Address
  • Location types of Pickup and Delivery location

The category suggests how the goods are handled:

  • Goods Flow that suggests how a Biospecimen or Finished product is shipped, this controls whether a Shipment is required. If shipment is required the subsequent Delivery Address Type and Delivery Location type should be filled.
  • Flow Node suggests a step in the supply chain, like pickup or delivery of Biospecimen or Finished product, and it applies to the manufacturing step too. This controls whether a Process order is required and the subsequent main address pickup address types should be filled.

This Goods Flow and Flow Nodes are combined together to build the Flow version that drives the process from Biospecimen to Finished Product.

The image shows a configuration interface for managing flow section types in an SAP application. It displays a form for creating a new flow section type, with fields for the Flow Section Type, Description, Main Address Usage Type, Category, Flow Node, Pickup Location Type, Shipment Required, and Delivery Address Usage Type. The interface also includes options for Process Order Required and Pickup Location Type.

Activation and Deactivation

When a new Flow Node is saved, the status is set to Active by default. At any point in time, the Flow Node can be deactivated by providing the right Deactivation Reason, some optional comments, and reviewing the Where used list. In the same way, deactivated entries can be activated by providing the right Activation Reason.

The image shows a configuration interface for managing flow section types in an SAP application. It displays a list of three flow section types: PFN, PGF, and VFN. The interface also shows detailed information about a selected flow section type called Processing Flow Node. This includes its general information, such as the flow section type, process order required, pickup address usage type, shipment required, delivery address usage type, and associated category and pickup location.

Location Rules

In the SAP Cell and Gene Therapy Orchestration solution, this application can be found under the Configuration tab or use Configure Location Rules in the open search section to access it. The Location Rule is a Rule that maps the organization to one of the location types, such as FromLocation(Pickup) or ToLocation(Dropoff).

The image shows the main menu options in an SAP application, including Configuration, Master Data, Treatment Management, and others. Under Configuration, several options are displayed: Configure Status Profiles, Configure User Status, Configure Entity Status Profile, Configure Document Type, Configure Organization Location Types, and Configure Location Rules.

Configuring Location Rules

Click on Create as pointed to in the figure above on how to create a new entry.

The Configuration consists of the following:

  • Unique ID of 40 Characters
  • Description of 250 Characters
  • Entity that describes the process where this is used like Shipment, Task, Approval, ProcessingNodeDetails and so on…,
  • Location ID to derive From or To Location ID
  • Location Type to derive from or To Location Types
The image shows a configuration interface for managing location rules in an SAP application. It includes a form for creating a new location rule, with fields for the Rule ID, Location ID Field, Location Type Field, and Description. The interface also displays options for Editing Status, Status, and Entities. The overall interface provides tools for configuring and managing location-related rules and settings.

Activation and Deactivation

When a new Location Rule is saved, the status is set to Active by default. At any point in time, the Location Rule can be deactivated by providing the right Deactivation Reason, some optional comments, and reviewing the Where used list. In the same way, deactivated entries can be activated by providing the right Activation Reason.

The image shows a configuration interface for managing location rules in an SAP application. It displays a list of existing location rules, including B501 and FP01, both associated with the Shipment entity. The main focus of the interface is a detailed view of a specific location rule called Pick-Up Location, which includes its general information, such as the rule ID, location ID field, location type field, and description. The interface also provides options to edit or deactivate the selected location rule.
