Configuring the Setup of a Label Printing

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to analyze the purpose and key components of configuring label types.

Introduction

You will explore the essential concepts and configurations related to Label Types and Label Templates, two critical components of the SAP Cell and Gene Therapy Orchestration solution. You will learn how to create and manage Label Types, understanding the unique ID, description, and the process of activating and deactivating these labels. Additionally, you will dive into the setup of Label Templates, discovering how they are mapped to specific therapies, materials, plants, countries/regions, languages, and label types. Finally, you will examine the role of Document Types in the solution, particularly in relation to handling PHI/PII and the ability to allow document uploads.

Label Types

In the SAP Cell and Gene Therapy Orchestration solution, this application can be found under the Labels tab or use Configure Label Types in the open search section to access it. The Label Type is used to specify the type of label like BS Hangtag label, FP label, Secondary Packaging, and so on.

The image shows the Labels section of an SAP application interface. It displays various configuration options related to labels, including Configure Label Types, Map Label Template to Therapy, Country/Region and Material, Print Biospecimen Hanging Label, and Print Finished Product / Secondary Packaging Label.

Configuring Label Types

Click on Create as pointed in the figure above on how to create a new entry.

The Configuration consists of the following:

  • Unique ID of 40 Characters
  • Description of 250 Characters

The interface also shows a table with information about existing label types, including their ID, description, editing status, and creation and modification details.

Activation and Deactivation

When a new label type is saved, the status is set to Active by default. At any point in time, the label type can be deactivated by providing the right Deactivation Reason, some optional comments, and reviewing the Where used list. In the same way, deactivated entries can be activated by providing the right Activation Reason.
