Managing Flow Definitions

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to manage flow definitions.

Flow Definitions

In the SAP Cell and Gene Therapy Orchestration solution, this application can be found under the Master Data tab or use Manage Flow Definitions in the open search section to access it.

The image shows the Master Data menu of an SAP software application. It displays various options for managing different aspects of the application, including Therapies, Organizations, Contact Persons, Material, and Flow Definitions.

This defines the supply chain steps involved in the production of finished product starting with the biospecimen collection until the finished product delivery. The Confirm Flow Version application is used to select the flow version against each COI / Treatment order. The selected flow version drives the supply chain steps against each individual treatment order.

Manage Flow Definitions

The image shows the Manage Flow Definitions interface in an SAP software application. It displays a flow definition with the ID DEMO and provides options to configure the general information and flow steps for the definition. The interface includes fields for Flow Version ID, Description, and a table to define the flow steps and their associated properties.

The definition of flow version includes the following:

  • An unique identifier of 40 characters
  • Description of 250 characters
  • Flow steps

Flow Steps

The image shows the Flow Steps section of the Manage Flow Definitions interface in an SAP software application. It displays a table with columns for Step ID, Description, Subsequent Step, Flow Section Type, Shipment Type, Location Rule ID, Location ID, and Material Type and Group. The table is currently empty, indicating no flow steps have been defined for the DEMO flow definition.

The flow step defines the manufacturing process flow. Each flow step consists of the following:

  • Step ID - sequential number to determine the initial and subsequent steps
  • Description - brief description about the step
  • Subsequent step - denotes the next step in the execution process
  • Flow section type - dropdown values from Configure Flow Section Types to denote type of flow
  • Fields like shipment type, location rule ID, location ID, material type and material group combination ID are enabled / disabled based on the selection made in the Flow section type field
  • The system allows you to assign five material type and material group combinations for each flow step

Note

Select the detailed view, as highlighted above, to get all the available flow step fields.

Activation and Deactivation of an Organization

When a new flow definition is saved, the status is set to Active by default. At any point in time, the label type can be deactivated by providing the right Deactivation Reason, optional comments, and reviewing the Where used list. In the same way, deactivated entries can be activated by providing the right Activation Reason.
