Transportation Lanes

In the SAP Cell and Gene Therapy Orchestration solution, this application can be found under the Master Data tab or use Manage Transportation Lanes in the open search section to access it.

The Manage Transportation Lanes option is also visible in the menu.

A combination of Pick up and Drop off location along with Additional information such as Time, Weight, Carrier Name, Means of Transport, Courier ID, Charges and so on. The transportation lanes created as master data here, will be used in Configure Transportation Lane Rules during Determine Transportation Lane in the treatment order.

Manage Transportation Lanes

The definition of transportation lane includes the following:

  • An unique identifier of 40 characters
  • Description of 250 characters
  • Courier - the organization that has location type as carrier
  • Transportation lane - courier ID: free text to capture the courier ID
  • Preferred pickup time and preferred delivery time - to capture the allowed pickup and delivery times
  • Shipment weight - weight of the shipment
  • Flight carrier name - free text to capture the flight carrier name
  • Means of transport - the means of transport like truck, rail, car, ship, airplane and so on
  • Lane turn around time - the approximate time required to complete the shipment
  • Expected release time from customs - if customs are involved the approximate time required to complete the release process

Charges

The image shows the Charges section of the New: Transportation Lane interface in an SAP software application. It displays fields for Currency, Packaging Cost, Miscellaneous Charges, and Total Estimated Cost, allowing users to enter information related to the charges associated with a transportation lane.

The definition of transportation lane includes the following:

  • Charges involved in the shipment process like packaging cost, lane cost, any miscellaneous charges, and the currency unit.
  • The summation of this charges are populated as total estimated cost.
  • This value will give an approximate cost incurred if the product is shipped using the transportation lane.

Activation and Deactivation of an Organization

When a new transportation lane is saved, the status is set to Active by default. At any point in time, the transportation lane can be deactivated by providing the right Deactivation Reason and optional comments. In the same way, deactivated entries can be activated by providing the right Activation Reason.
