Tailoring the User Interface for the Business

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to tailor the user interface with adaptation and brand the homepage in SAP Service Cloud Version 2.

Brand Default

Administrator level users can tailor SAP Service Cloud Version 2 by adding branding to meet the specific requirements for the business. Any changes made affect the entire system.

To brand SAP Service Cloud Version 2, navigate to the User Menu icon and select Settings. With the selection of System Preferences, you can find the entries, Appearance and Behavior and Home Page. From here, you have the control of accepting default settings as is or customizing them. You can customize the following objects:

  • Logo.
  • Login Image.
  • Background Image.

For example, you can replace the default login home page images with your own, which you can upload.

Appearance and behavior settings are highlighted.

Interface Enhancements

As a consultant, you can extend your solution by using the following main tools, which can then impact the associated application screens. Such changes affect the entire system (all users). Use this feature to tailor SAP Service Cloud Version 2 to meet the specific requirements of the business.

  • Extensibility.
  • Data Protection & Privacy.
  • Business Flow.

While the types of customizations that you can perform are endless, common examples include:

Extensibility

Use Extensibility Administration to:

  • Add or change a field or button.
  • Set a field to required/visible/hidden.
  • Use the conditions in Determination to calculate values in fields on the screen.
  • Use Page Layout to control what fields are available to which business roles in the system.
  • Use Validation to adjust the systems business logic to stop, change, or add events.
  • Create mashups to enable users to link from the system to the Web or to other systems.

Under Extensibility, use Language Adaptation to maintain custom defined text for example, your fields.

Data Protection & Privacy
  • Under Data Protection & Privacy settings, use Depersonalize to hide selected personal data.
Business Flow
  • Under Business Flow settings, use Autoflow to set conditions for workflow events to lead to specific actions.

Language Adaptation

Language Adaptation is highlighted under All settings.
Language Adaptation; account is highlighted.

Language Adaptation – Source language – Target language e.g. Account

With Language Adaptation under extensibility the Administrator can change the language used tenant wide for the Standard Texts for different objects. For example, for Account, as shown above.

Adaptation with Depersonalization

Data depersonalization is highlighted.

With Depersonalize under Data Protection & Privacy settings, the administrator can select an object to have all the personal data maintained for it get the value XXXX (depersonalized).

Adaptation with Autoflow

The administrator uses Autoflow under Business Flow settings to send either emails or events or information notifications (the three available Actions) for objects (Entities) such as Cases, or Registered Products, and so on, according to conditions they set. This autoflow is a workflow rule.

A condition is a criterion that triggers an action when met. Conditions are structured into groups. Also, a trigger can have more than one condition with additional conditions defined using logical operators AND/OR. The AND operator can be defined using a condition within the same group. To add more than one condition, use OR. Add a new group to define the OR operator amongst the workflow conditions such that if conditions in at least one group are met, then the overall condition is considered fulfilled and the workflow rule has been triggered.

The three actions types are:

  • Send Emails.
  • Send Event Notifications.
  • Send Info Notifications.

Note

  • Conditions are based on standard and extension fields.
  • The number of conditions influences the system's performance.

Extensibility Administration

Extensibility administration and custom fields are highlighted

A lot of adaptation is undertaken with Extensibility under Settings. However, options like adding or changing a field or button, or setting a field to required/visible/hidden also involve Start Adaptation on the User Menu. You use Start Adaptation to edit the layout of system screens once related changes in Extensibility settings are made. For example, you’d add a field in Settings with Extensibility under Extensibility Administration, then place this field on a system screen, where you want it over in Start Adaption.

Here are the five areas within Extensibility settings showing where common examples of adaptation are found:

  • Extensibility Administration:
    • Add or change a field or button.
    • Set a field required/visible/hidden.
  • Assignment Rules:
    • Determination.
  • Page Layouts.
  • Custom Logic:
    • Validation.
  • Mashup Authoring.

Creating a New Custom Field Using Adaptation in SAP Service Cloud Version 2

You can add extension fields like custom fields using adaptation in SAP Service Cloud Version 2. In this video, Alan the consultant will create a new custom field to tailor the user interface.

Video Summary

The video provided a step-by-step demonstration on how to create and add a new custom field in SAP Service Cloud Version 2 using the Adaptation feature.

Determination

Use Determination to calculate a specific field value based on conditions that you set. You can either default or propose the value or mandate a certain value using determinations. An example is the Post Hook Determination rule that you can use to prevent the user from overwriting default values.

Page Layout is a commonly used adaptation that the administrator uses to control the available fields based on business roles.

Validation

Validation is commonly used by the administrator to implement custom logic to either prevent a save or issue a warning message to users during a save. A Validation Editor comprising a Header, Conditions and Actions is used to create the custom logic.

Finally, Mashup Authoring is commonly used to create mashups that integrate data from SAP's cloud solution with data provided by an online Web service or application. Users can access the content provided by these Web services and applications to use in their daily work. Mashups can include Web searches, company or industry business information, or online map searches.

Note

SAP only supports HTML mashups that embed an HTML or JavaScript based Web page directly on a screen.

Creating a Determination Rule Using Adaptation in SAP Service Cloud Version 2

In this video, Alan the consultant will create a new determination rule and test it in SAP Service Cloud Version 2.

Lesson Summary

This lesson emphasized the importance of tailoring the user interface in SAP Service Cloud Version2 that meets business requirements through branding, interface enhancements, language adaptation, autoflow and extensibility.
