Integration: Public Sector Management (PSM) and Sales and Distribution (SD)

The integration between the modules Public Sector Management (PSM) and Sales and Distribution (SD) starts with the billing of the SD order. As there are no financial documents generated, the SD process does not have any impact on PSM.

The billing process generates revenue postings and need to be populated with PSM account assignments in order to satisfy the generic rules for updating and reporting.

This is achieved using the substitution tool.

Note

The validation for completeness of the document is processed during billing at the time of GL document generation - for example, this means that without setting up the derivation, the system will process errors (for example, asking for a required fund).

The following figure shows a simple example for SD billing. Only the cost center is being derived as fund, functional area, and grant are derived from the cost center. The derivation of budget account and budget period follows the generic derivation rules (described in the generic chapter for this class).

UI example of a Manage Substitution and Validation Rules page with the General Information tab selected with a rule name and description for Cost Center Derivation for SD listed.

Summary

You should be now able to understand the integration with Sales and Distribution.

The key takeaways are as follows:

  • SD order are not integrated with Public Sector Management
  • PSM account assignments need to be derived during billing in order to properly populate the generated
