Up to now, you have created or changed your SAP master data in the system on the current date.
You are now looking for a tool that documents these creations or changes better and, secondly, allows you to schedule changes in the SAP system.
The Engineering Change Management could be the solution.
Watch the following video and get a first impression of working with SAP Engineering Change Management.
You can perform object changes (for example, routing changes) in the SAP system either with or without history. For changes without history, the system generates change documents, but the change statuses are not saved.
If you make changes with a change number, these are termed historical changes. The changes could, for example, take effect on a specific date. The status both before and after the change is saved. The system also generates change documents. Change management in the SAP system enables you to document changes completely. This may be needed for product liability, for example.

If you change a BOM using a change master record, the system saves both the status before and after the change. The pre-change status ends with the valid-to date and the post-change status begins with the valid-from date, one day later.
