Revision level for Material BOMs

Revision level for Documents
The revision level serves to identify an important document version. Assignment can only happen when a document is being processed. When you release a document with a change number for the first time, the system automatically assigns the revision level. When you process the document structure, you can display the revision level but you cannot assign a revision level.
You set the revision level for documents in customizing of document types.
Note
If you do not determine the revision level, you can release a document version without a change number, even if the older version was released with a change number.
