Selecting objects with the Product Structure Browser

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to select objects with the Product Structure Browser.

Product Structure Browser

The central change management group for the Forklifter Company decided to work with change masters in the SAP system. Change masters are used for different objects. In the past, you defined every object that had to be changed manually. Now you are looking for a tool that makes it easier for you to do an object selection.

You can group together changes to related objects in the change master record. These objects can be quickly and easily selected using the product structure browser. You can find this in the menu under: Goto → Select Object.

You can, for example, start the product structure browser with any material master or document. Within the browser, you can navigate through BOMs, documents, or routings, and across as many levels as required.

This figure explains the objects used inside product structure browser. Follow the notes for more information.

Once you have selected these objects inside your browser, system automatically create object management records.

Note

You can only select an object if you have set the necessary indicators in the object type definition.

Introduction

After you have manually assigned different master data for a product in the first change number, you are now looking for an alternative object selection.
