Product Change Management

Change Management: Overview

Until now, changes to master data were transferred on the date they were made.

With Change Management, you can specify a future date to transfer data changes to Logistics. You can even schedule changes at the same time you create an object. You can also track your changes with object management records. If government regulations require detailed documentation, you can prove who created what, along with when and how they did so.

The following video explains how Change Management can be used to change materials, material BOMs, routings, or other objects.

Change management works with two change objects: Change Masters and Change Records.

In the following lessons you learn how to maintain a material BOM with several change masters and in comparison you perform a material BOM change with a change record.

The change master is used if you want to make the object changes directly after creating the change record.

The change record is used if several users/ groups are involved and an approval process is needed before the changes are implemented. Change records are often used in combination with process routes or workflows.
