Managing Companies in SAP CPQ

The Concept of a Company in CPQ

In SAP CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote), a company represents a business entity that is using the software. It can refer to the main organization, its subsidiaries, resellers. Each company in SAP CPQ can have its own set of products, price books, users, and configuration settings based on their specific business processes and requirements. It allows for management and configuration of data at a granular level.

Organizing the Information of a Company

Once a company profile is created, user types and individual users can be assigned to the company.

The administrator can add a new company or copy, delete and edit an existing company's information. 

Note

A Company and User Type are mandatory fields in the creation of a new user.

When you edit a company, the company's information is organized into two tabs:

  • General
  • Permissions.
General
Under the General tab, enter information about the new company. This includes two required fields: the company name and the company code. Note that the company code provides a means to differentiating a company from other companies using the same name. Providing a unique identifier helps you assign a user with the correct company.
Permissions
The Permissions tab assigns a group permission to act as the administrator of the company from User Page from end user side.

The Export/Import Feature

In organizations that support multiple companies within a single SAP CPQ environment, administrators can easily export/import multiple companies at once.

The best practice for importing new companies in the system is use the import template. 

For updating existing company details, export them from the system, change the data, and import it back into the system.

This feature is particularly useful for large-scale creates/updates or changes, as it can be more efficient than manually updating individual records.

The Companies Export/Import page allows bulk export/import of companies following one of these workflows: 

  • Download a templatefill out company detailsimport the file.
  • Export all companieschange details and add new companiesimport the file.
