Defining and Monitoring Entitlement Background Jobs

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to define and monitor entitlement background jobs.

The Define Background Jobs App

The Define Background Jobs app is essential for automating entitlement-related processes, ensuring operational efficiency and optimizing the overall performance of entitlement management within the SAP system. It allows administrators to set up and monitor background jobs that handle entitlement-related tasks and processes.

The Define Background Jobs app runs resource-intensive processes in the system’s background during low-usage times. The tasks are scheduled to run at regular intervals, such as during nightly outbound notification or regular system checks.

Creating a Background Job

UI example of Create Background Job page in SAP Entitlement Management System. The job is named BG_JOBS with the action Send Entitlements to other systems and has different scheduling options.

The Define Background Jobs app lets users schedule and manage background tasks to handle various functions. You can set customizable features, including task frequency, task type, status changes, deletion of data, event triggering, entitlement updates, and execution of tasks. Also, the detailed log keeps a record of these jobs. The Define Background Jobs app is a powerful tool for monitoring and diagnosing system issues and bottlenecks.

The Background Jobs Action List

SAP Entitlement Management System UI example of the Create Background Job page for creating background jobs, showing dropdown options under Action next to name field BG JOBS. Options include Change Status of Entitlement and more.

The Background Job Actions list details the tasks that can be assigned to a background job - everything from deleting expired contact data and provisioning process notifications to sending entitlements to other systems and triggering events such as activating or expiring an entitlement. The Define Background Jobs app is a helpful administrative resource for managing tasks in the SAP Entitlement Management System (EMS).
