Managing the End-to-End Entitlement Generation Process Across Systems

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to manage end-to-end entitlement generation process.

End-to-End Entitlement Generation Process

SAP Entitlement Management provides several tools for defining and monitoring APIs, background jobs, and entitlement events. The Monitor API Calls app tracks communication and ensures integration between the SAP system and other systems. The Define Background Jobs app automates entitlement-related processes for operational efficiency, while Define Entitlement Events maintains oversight and compliance with system policies and regulations.

Overall, these apps help manage user entitlements within SAP Entitlement Management, ensuring seamless integration, automating processes, and maintaining compliance with policies and regulations. Let’s explore these three apps and see how they support oversight and the management of entitlements.

Within SAP Entitlement Management, the end-to-end entitlement generation across systems can provide actionable insights. As the entitlement generation process involves managing user access, permissions, and entitlements across multiple interconnected systems, it generates a wealth of data and information. By analyzing this data, organizations can gain valuable insights that can be used to make informed decisions and take actionable steps to enhance business operations.

Watch the following video to learn more how SAP Entitlement Management helps you use data generated from the end-to-end entitlement generation process.

Entitlements or usage rights are available to anyone in an organization that supports decision-making or day-to-day activities. Entitlements can also be made available to outside partners who manage entitlements for customers on your behalf, in addition to customers directly when certain self-service views and activities are allowed.

SAP Entitlement Management's reporting and analytics capabilities enable organizations to extract and analyze data related to entitlement generation, and use this information to identify trends, monitor performance, and make data-driven decisions. Also, the actionable insights obtained can be used to address issues, improve processes, and optimize user entitlements to better align with business objectives.

Let’s look at a real-world example of an entitlement model in action.

A Real-World Example of an Entitlement Model

Let’s consider a 3D printer company that offers a 3D printer as a subscription. The 3D printer comes as a package with support, a warranty, free installation at the customer’s location, access to a learning portal, and design software. The name of this subscription package is 3DSBR.

The customer can choose among six entitlement options:

Diagram showing six entitlements with icons: Subscription to printer, Free installation service, Support, Coverage for accidental damage, 3D design software, and Learn & share – 3D design access.

When a customer purchases a 3D printer subscription, they will not only get a subscription to the printer, but free installation services valid for a specified duration.

The customer can choose different levels of support with options for training and immediate replacement of a broken printer. The customer can purchase credits that are consumed when the customer makes a call or sends an e-mail.

The customer can purchase more coverage for accidental damage. However, the entitlement is limited to the United States.

In addition, the customer can download the 3D design software and receive access to a 3D design portal.

Overview of a Typical Subscription Purchase Process

The typical process of engaging the services of a printer subscription package includes the purchase of a 3D printer subscription, configuring with specific options, receiving entitlements, and finally getting billed for the services and features included in the subscription.

The following example describes a typical subscription purchase process:

Flowchart showing the subscription purchase process: 1. Purchase subscription, configured for printer type, support, users, software. 2. Receive entitlements, get rights to features. 3. Get billed for period, users, support.
