Monitoring an Entitlement Process Execution

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to monitor an entitlement process execution.

The Monitor Entitlement Processes App

The Monitor Entitlement Process app in SAP Entitlement Management is used for tracking and managing the entitlement process, which includes reviewing, validating, and approving entitlement requests. This app provides visibility into the status and progress of entitlement requests, as well as tools for managing and resolving any issues that arise during the process. It helps ensure that entitlements are being handled efficiently and accurately and provides a centralized platform for monitoring and managing all entitlement-related activities.

Dashboard for SAP's Entitlement Management System, featuring sections like Business Configuration, Operations, and Provisioning, each with tiles displaying metrics and statuses for various tasks.

The Monitor Entitlement Processes Log ID Page

SAP Monitor Entitlement Processes UI displaying log IDs, statuses (running, completed, stopping), API log IDs, process names, executors, and execution timestamps. The page size is set to 20 items.

Each execution log displays the following fields:

Execution Log

FieldDescription
Log IDID of the execution log
Status

Indicates whether the process execution is successful.

Possible statuses are:

  • Completed
  • Completed with Error
  • Stopped
  • No Entitlement Found
  • Running
  • Stopping
API Log IDID of API request log which triggers this process execution
Process NameName of the executed Entitlement Process
Executed ByUser who triggered this execution
Executed AtWhen the execution starts

You can filter logs by ID, Status, Process, Executed By, and Executed At.

UI example of the SAP Monitor Entitlement Processes page displaying a table with columns for Log ID, Status, API Log ID, Process Name, Executed By, and Executed At. Some processes are running, completed, or stopping.

If a status is running and a process is executed for an unusually long time or the process is triggered by accident, you can select this process log and select the Stop button. The process status becomes "Stopping". The system completes the current running package and does not process the remaining packages. Once the current running package is completed, the status of the process execution log changes to "Stopped". If the process is hung at status Stopping for more than one hour, you can select the process and choose Stop to set the status to Stopped.

You can select one or multiple process logs and select the Delete button to delete the logs. Note that logs with a status of Running and Stopping cannot be deleted.

To view status of packages processed within one execution, select a Log ID. You navigate to a list of packages processed within this execution.

Monitor displaying an SAP system UI. The interface displays package details with ID, status, duration, start and end times, package entitlements, and logs. Two entries have a failed status; others are not started.

For each package log, the following fields are displayed:

Package Log

FieldDescription
Package IDID of the package
StatusExecution status. The possible statuses could be Success, Fail, and Not Started
DurationThe time the execution of this package takes
Start Date/TimeStart time of package execution
End Date/TimeEnd time of package execution
Package EntitlementsThe number of entitlements included in this package. You can select the number to check the list of all entitlements included in this package
Updated EntitlementsThe number of entitlements updated by this package
Created EntitlementsThe number of entitlements created by this package
Package LogProcess history and messages

To reprocess a package, select a Package ID with the status of Fail or Not Started. Select the Reprocess button.

Summary

We’ve used SAP Entitlement Management’s Configure Entitlement Master Data app to configure a process entitlement and the Monitor Entitlement Process app to track and manage entitlement processes. Let's move to the last unit in our learning journey. Next, we automate and streamline the downstream processes using the provisioning process of SAP Entitlement Management.
