Navigating Integration

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to classify the primary platforms for integration.

Introduction to the Primary Platforms for Integration

Unit 9: Key Topics

In the upcoming segment of the course, we will delve into intricacies of integrating the SAP Field Service Management (FSM) with various SAP back-end systems and third-party back-end systems. Here are the main objectives/topics:

  1. Understanding Different Integration Scenarios and Platforms: Various platforms are used for integration depending on the back-end system. These include FMS Cloud Connector developed by Proaxia, SAP Integration Suite (CPI), and SAP B1 Cloud Connector.

  2. Exploring Master Data and Transaction Data Integration: You'll understand the types of data covered in different integration scenarios, including master data like business partners, products, and stock, and transaction data such as service orders, items, and reserved materials.

  3. Learning about the FSM Cloud Connector Integration: This involves the understanding of the three parts of FSM cloud connector namely: the business integrator, the message broker, and the transporter.

  4. Integrating with SAP S/4HANA (On-Premise and Cloud): We'll look at the types of data supported by these integrations and the mechanisms for replicating data from SAP S/4HANA to FSM.

  5. Master Data Integration (MDI): Understand how MDI provides a consistent view on master data across a hybrid landscape based on the SAP One Domain Model.

  6. Other Integrations: We'll cover the standard integrations that exist with SAP Commerce Cloud, SAP Analytics Cloud, and SAP Asset Central.

  7. Understanding the FSM Connector: We will explore how the FSM Connector supports transactional data flow and how the connector can be set up to achieve business outcomes.

At the end of this section, you will understand the high-level capabilities and limitations of the available standard integrations between SAP Field Service Management and the various back-end systems.

Overview of Main Integration Platforms

Standard integration scenarios are available for various SAP back-end systems. Different integration platforms/technologies are used, depending on the relevant back-end system:

  • Integrations based on based on FSM Cloud Connector provided by SAP Partner Proaxia:
    • SAP ECC CS, PM or PS
    • SAP S/4HANA PM, PS or CS (compatibility mode)
  • Integrations based on SAP Integration Suite (formerly known as CPI):
    • SAPS/4HANA Service (Cloud)
    • SAP S/4HANA Service (on premise)
    • SAPCX Service Cloud
    • SAP CRM 7.0
  • Integrations based on SAP B1 Cloud Connector: SAP Business One

On top of, or alternative to, the standard ERP/CRM integrations, there are several other standard integrations:

The supported objects and features are different depending on the integration scenario.

The supported objects and features are different depending on the integration scenario. Therefore, it is recommend to carefully explore the fit between the solution requirements and the supported capabilities for the preferred solution landscape.
