Configuring in SAP Order Management for Sourcing and Availability 

I hope you can see my screen now. Yeah. So now we enter into describing the OMSA user interface. So there is a user interface for OMSA that I will demo in a second, where you can see some of the data that has been loaded into OMSA, for example, the sites, and then you can create your surfing network, which is a site group, if you want. And then in the same UI, we will see later that you can configure or you can define your surfing strategy. And at the moment, there are two site types in OMSA. And there is a site type store and a site type distribution center. There is no site type vendor at the moment. So if you want to upload stock by vendor or for a marketplace, you will have to define a virtual site type DC if you like and then upload the stock into that virtual type. So two site types for the moment distribution center and store. And there is a UI, and rather than taking the slides, I'm going to really access the system and explain to you what is the function around creating and managing site e-groups. So let me go into the solution. I hope you can see my screen. So this is the OMSA DFO configuration, the OMSA configuration user interface. And there are three elements, three parts to this UI. The first one is to define software strategies. The second one is to manage site management. And the third one is to, there's a simulation function, right? To simulate, oops, sorry, one sec. One sec, I just need to reload, reloading. Yeah, okay, let me show you back. So, once that you subscribe to OMSA, you have your tenant, and then you have subscribed to the OMSA solution, then you have access to the OMSA UI or the OMSA configuration. And there is where you can create sorting strategies, manner size, of course, as a prerequisite, you will have to have loaded already, for example, to use site management, you will have to have loaded all the sites, right? And in this function, there are site groups inside. I'll start by just looking into the sites. And this is OMSA. So this is not data ingestion. So this is OMSA. So sites has been feed into data ingestion and from there into OMSA. And what you are looking into here is what are the sites available in your OMSA applications? So you see the site IDs, you see the site type, store or distribution centers, and for the demos we are going to use site C100, which is a distribution center in Germany, in the region DEVW and in Waldorf, and then you have two stores, C121-1212, one in St. Imber, in mid Germany and one in the North in Hamburg, in the North, in Yemen. So you can see a number of site attributes and most of these attributes are coming from, are being replicated from the S4HANA system. But the maximum capacity is these details that requires to be feed from an external system. Okay, and that gives you, for example, that this distribution template has a maximum of 150 orders. is the limit on a date. And then, which is not really appropriate numbers, right? Because the stores usually will do less, right? The less orders, right? But that's what it is, okay, is test data. And yeah, and that's the site details. And then you can see the list of available sites in your own site application. And you can work out, you can play with these sites and create site groups, yeah? Now I move to, if you can see the sites, you can see also what site groups are already available in the system. So I did create one for this session, it's named training site group, Germany01. And then you can see that this site group is formed by three sites, and it contains two types of sites. So it contains distribution centers and stores. And you can click and see the details of your site group. And this site group for training, it has three sites on it. One distribution center and two stores. Now, if you wanna create a new site group, you can use this through the OMSA site management. You can give a name, partner, training. in. Yeah. And then next you give a name and then you just assign which sites you want, right? Maybe you want a distribution center. Yeah. And then you want to select a couple of stores or you define your surfing network. It is an important step because you are defining a site group, which basically usually contains your site network that you want to use in your strategy. Later on when we define the strategy we will assign a side group. We can assign a side group or we can assign individual sides. There is an option for you to use side groups or not. If you don't want to use side groups then don't do it. But if you're going to repeat the same number of sides and assign to your multiple surfing strategies, I think it is that it is worth creating the site groups. And there is not much more, right? So you can, you have given a name, you have selected which ones do you want to assign to your site group, and then you can finally review and save, right? So you are creating a sorting network containing one distribution center and three stores. If that is the sorting network, which represents your network. And then you can save it, and that's it. Now your new site group is in here, and you can see the details. There are four sites, part of your network. And now that site is available. You can assign the site group to your sorting structure. Now, there is a possibility also to edit and delete site groups. I will not spend more time here, I think this is very self-understanding. The second unit in this area is sorting strategy. I'll go back to the slides, but I will try to illustrate the concept or the configuration of a surfing strategy by doing an example. I hope you can still see my screen. So we've seen the site management. Now we are doing the surfing strategies. And then you can see that there are multiple strategies already available in your application. And you can give a name, maybe one is for winter, another one is for summer, or there is one for a particular day that you need to promote. So you might define multiple. And you can see one of them. For example, there is one we are going to use in example later, which is named partner training 01. And we can see also another one created, patent training 02. If you want, you can see the details inside. You can edit and change an existing one. But basically this is giving you what are the business goals that has been defined as part of your, for your sorting strategy. So, and what is the, the goal value and what is the constraint applicable. So you can see the details and also you can see that this strategy has been assigned to a side group and that side group contains three sides. Yeah. So you could see the parameters relevant or what the definition of the certain strategy. Now, if you wanna, you might want to create a new strategy that could be winter or, yeah. So let me just call it trade partner winter. So the first thing is that you need to be clear what are the goals you want to switch on and off. So if for you is only important the delivery time, then you will switch off the other four business goals. And it is mandatory that then you assign the weight. So the weight is the, if you want to have in your strategy more than one, you need to give an importance, a weight to your objective, right? If you only have one, it has to be 100. But if for you is important both capacity and delivery time, then you can assign an importance of 70% to your delivery time and 30 to your utilized capacity. So when you have a sorting request, so the system will use the weight. The system will always score. If you have multiple locations in your network that you can fulfill an order, the system's OMSA algorithm will score each and every of the fulfillment options. It will give a score. And to calculate that score, it will pick up the best score site. And to calculate that score, the score will be calculated based on the number of business objective that you are configuring as part of your sorting strategy. And it will multiply the score of each of the objectives by the weight. So it could be that a site based on the capacity objective you will pick up the distribution center in the north of Germany. But based on the delivery time, because your customer is in the south and you have a distribution center or a store in the south, you could pick up the delivery time would be shorter in for the distribution center in the south, right? And now OMSA needs to score the DC South and the DC North, because both can fulfill an order. And if you give more importance to delivery time, then OMSA will score more the fact that the delivery time is lower in the DC South compared to the fact that the delivery center in the north has more capacity, and it could balance better the capacity. So you give an importance, right? So select the goals, give the weight to the various goals, And then now, you define the goal value. For each goal value, the score is different. So the utilized capacity, you could assign and say, OK, for me, I want to balance the capacity around the 80%. And that's the goal value. based on the goal value when two distribution centers can fulfill an order and they are in the constraint, below the constraint. But one is, yeah, maybe one is 60% capacity and the other one is 80 already. It could, to balance the capacity could give that order to the DC, which is only 60%, yeah? So, and OMSA will score that, we'll take that into consideration and we'll come with the answer to which is closer for the side which is closer to the goal value. For delivery time, again, you can define a delivery time of three and then you can put a constraint of five. What does it mean that if I put a constraint of five days means that if I'm shipping, I have a distribution tent, two locations, one in the north, one in the south, my customer is in the north. I can, and if the transportation lane from south to the north is more than five days, then OMSA will not consider at all this distribution center. Even if it's better for capacity or better for order, for cost, or yeah. Basically the constrain will remove any source which has a constrain beyond the constraints. So for example, any distribution vendor or store who has available the product and can ship to this customer. If the transportation line is more than five days it will be automatically removed. That's the effect of the constraint. And then the goal bandwidth is just to score within the ones that has passed the constraint. And now I have three centers that could fulfill and are within the constraints, then for those, OMSA will score based on the goal value I give. And if the goal value is number of days, OMSA will always select the site which is shorter in delivery time. And the same for cost and ship, ship, shipment per orders and cost to pick and pack. So you define, in this case, for me it's important, utilize capacity and delivery time, nothing else. Okay, so that's fine. you give a name, you give this, then there is some extra parameters. I guess, VR, you cover those. So you could allow split shipments of the same products across sites. If you want to enable this, then you just click and enable this. If you want to allow partial quantities, then you enable this. That means that when you are calculating availability, if a customer is asking for 10 units of a product, but OMSA has only eight, if you switch off this, then the answer for OMSA for the availability of that shopping cart is going to be no, nothing. I cannot fulfill that shopping cart. But if you allow partial quantities, then maybe OMSA answer will be, yes, I can fulfill eight only, not ten, but eight only in this date. So there are extra parameters that you can play with. And that is how you configure your sorting strategy. And yeah, that's, I'm not going to save this sorting strategy because we are going to use for the demo in the next session, we're going to use an existing one.
