After completing this lesson, you will be able to deploy content in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Starter System

Content Deployment in the SAP S/4HANA Cloud Starter System

Overview of deploying content in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Starter System tenants via SAP Central Business Configuration

First, the lead configuration expert creates 2 workspaces in SAP Central Business Configuration. The process of activating the scope, organizational structure and finance settings, and product-specific configurations must be done for each workspace, because one workspace is connected to the SAP S/4HANA Cloud starter system customizing tenant, and one workspace is connected to the SAP S/4HANA Cloud starter system development tenant. For the starter system tenants, you are mostly confirming things that have already been predefined in SAP Central Business Configuration, because the starter system is meant to match the test scripts for each business process found in SAP Signavio Process Navigator for the SAP Best Practices for SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition solution scenario.

Create one workspace per SAP S/4HANA Cloud Starter System tenant

Next, you create two different workspaces. One workspace will be connected to the customizing tenant (client 100), and the other workspace will be connected to the development tenant (client 80) of the SAP S/4HANA Cloud starter system. Only the customizing tenant will be used by the line of business configuration experts to deliver the Fit-to-Standard workshops in the Explore phase of the SAP Activate Methodology. Each workspace should be the Evaluation type.

Add team members to each workspace

Now the partner lead configuration expert can add additional team members to the workspace. People will only show up as available users to add to the workspace if a user has been created for them in SAP Cloud Identity and they have been assigned permission to SAP Central Business Configuration.

While only the lead configuration expert will be going through the activities in SAP Central Business Configuration to activate business content in the SAP S/4HANA Cloud starter system, the other partner line of business (LoB) configuration experts may want to take screenshots of the configuration activities relevant for business processes in their LoB when preparing to deliver their Fit-to-Standard workshops. This can only happen after the content has been deployed to the starter system.

Complete activities in the Scope phase

The lead configuration expert opens and completes each activity in the Scope phase in SAP Central Business Configuration.

Assign Deployment Target

The deployment target is where SAP Central Business Configuration will activate the business processes. Each workspace should be connected to one of the two SAP S/4HANA Cloud starter system tenants (customizing, development).

Select Sector, Country/Region(s), and Languages

First, you are prompted to select the customer's sector (private or public sector), then choose the country/region(s) in which the starter system content should be activated. You can also select the languages that should be enabled. Refer to the Digital Discovery Assessment to see which country/region(s) and languages are in-scope for the implementation.

Confirm scope and choose Group Ledger

The Enterprise Management scope bundle will be automatically selected, and cannot be de-selected. This is because the starter system should have all business processes activated, not just those selected on the Digital Discovery Assessment (DDA). Keep in mind, the person completing the DDA likely does not have deep subject matter expertise in every single line of business (LoB) across the organization. They may have chosen too many business processes the company doesn't actually use, or not all of the processes the company actually needs. It's the Fit-to-Standard workshops conducted with customer business process experts that ultimately helps the configuration experts in each LoB identify which business processes are needed, and which are not. If a business process was not originally chosen on the DDA, it should still be available in the starter system just in case a partner LoB consultant realizes they need to demonstrate an additional process to their LoB customer experts.

Note

Additional bundle options are available when activating content in the SAP S/4HANA Cloud development system tenants.

The one mandatory selection that needs to be made on this screen is choosing a group ledger. If there will be multiple countries/regions, you can select both the Accounting and Financial Close - Group Ledger IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standard) (1GA) and the Accounting and Financial Close - Group Ledger US GAAP (United States Generally Acceptable Accounting Procedures) (2VA) and choose for which countries/regions the different ledgers are used. After making this selection, complete the activity.

Specify Primary Finance Settings

The Evaluation workspace only allows you to confirm the Fiscal Year Variant: K4 - Cal. Year, 4 Special Periods and Group Currency: USD (US Dollar), which is applied to all country/regions. Additional fiscal year variants are available in the development system tenants.

Set Up Organizational Structure

The organizational structure is predefined based on the selected country/region(s). SAP has a standard numbering and naming structure for organizational entities and this is prepopulated in the evaluation workspace so the data in the starter system will match with the test scripts for each business process you download from SAP Signavio Process Navigator for the SAP Best Practices for SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition solution scenario. While you can add additional org entities, we don't recommend it because the starter system should align as closely as possible with the test scripts. The partner line of business configuration experts use these test scripts to demonstrate each business process in the Fit-to-Standard workshops.

In the development system tenants, you build the customer's actual organizational structure based on the outcome of the organizational structure Fit-to-Standard workshop.

Deploy Scope and Organizational Structure Activity

The lead configuration expert then deploys the scope and organizational structure phase activity.

Confirm Product-Specific Configuration values

In the Product-Specific Configuration phase, SAP Central Business Configuration populates configuration values that support the business processes. Again, the values populated here align with the test scripts from SAP Signavio Process Navigator, so we don't recommend changing any of these values. Opening this activity brings you to the Configuration Activities tab, where you see a list of all line of business areas and their configuration values.

The master document that shows you which configuration activities are relevant to configure each business process is the Business Driven Configuration Questionnaire (BDCQ). This document is found in SAP Signavio Process NavigatorSAP Best Practices for SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition solution scenarioAccelerators tabGeneral Documents tabBusiness Driven Configuration Questionnaire.
