Migrating Data to SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition Directly from an SAP ERP System

<div id="content"><div class="parentsection"><div class="section"><p tabindex="0">The <strong>Migrate Data Directly from SAP System</strong> method includes a limited number of predefined migration objects for which a direct connection to an existing SAP system is created through a Remote Function Call (RFC). Because not all migration objects are supported through this method, the <strong>Migrate Data Using Staging Tables</strong> method (either Local or Remote database schema) would need to be used for any remaining migration objects .</p><p tabindex="0">This scenario includes a communication arrangement to set up an RFC connection with the existing SAP ECC system. SAP S/4HANA Migration Cockpit: Direct Transfer (SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition)

In this video, we're going to show you how to migrate data directly from an SAP-E-R-P system to SAP -S-Forhanna Cloud Public Edition. As a prerequisite, your system administrator needs to establish a connection between the two systems. Install the free-to-miss add-on in the SAP ERP source system and set up a communication arrangement. Open the Migrate Your Data Migration Cockpit app. Choose Create, then choose Migrate Data directly from SAP System. Enter a name for your migration project. The migration scenario is SAP-E-R-P to S-APS-Forhanna. Choose the connection to the source system that was set up by your system administrator through the communication arrangement. Choose Step 2. You need to choose company codes to select data from the source system. Enter the relevant company codes and then choose Step 3. A list with all migration objects delivered by SAP for SAP S4 HANA Cloud Public Edition is displayed. For more information about a migration object, choose documentation. Select the objects that are relevant for your project. then move them to the selected migration objects area. Choose review. The system asks if you would like to add predecessor objects. In our case, we are not adding any. Choose Create Project, then choose your Migration Project. You can see that the migration objects have been added to the project. Under Running Activities, you can see the running activities and finished activities with their logs. Choose job management here. You can adjust the maximum number of background jobs that are used for your project. You can also adjust the number of background jobs for specific migration objects. Back in the project, start the selection process for your migration objects. The data is now selected from the defined company code. If you want to restrict the selection further, you can use the migration object modeler. Choose Monitoring to find a list of all running and completed activities along with their logs. After the selection process is complete, you can see how many instances have been selected for each object. To open the list of instances, choose the number. Here, you can download, search for, sort, filter, and group instances. You can also display or hide columns. If you want to perform an action for migration object instances that meet certain criteria, you can use the mass processing function. For example, you can simulate or migrate instances that meet certain criteria. The mapping tasks need to be prepared before they can be processed. Choose prepare mapping tasks for the CO-Cost Center object. There are open mapping tasks for the CO-Cost Center Migration Object. Let's check the mapping tasks that the system has prepared. For an easier editing and reusing process of mapping values, you can download an empty mapping template or your mapping values and upload them again. This enables you to edit the mapping values offline and use them in different projects, if required. Choose one mapping task. Here, you can adjust the target mapping values. When you are finished, confirm all mapping tasks. Then select your migration object and choose Simulate. The simulation was successful. You can now migrate your data. The object has successfully been migrated. Choose migration results. You can now view the data that was created for a migration object instance in the SAP S-Forhanna system. Choose open a new window to view additional information about the created instance. This takes you to the relevant business app.
