Describing Fit-to-Standard Analysis Workshops

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to describe an overview of the Fit-to-Standard Analysis process flow

Fit-to-Standard Analysis Process Overview

Fit-to-Standard Analysis / Design Workshops Overview

The purpose of Fit-to-Standard Analysis and design workshops are to define how the solution will be configured in the Realize phase of the SAP Activate Methodology. These workshops are an essential part of making sure the SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition system fits the customer's needs.

Diagram with outlining the purpose of Fit-to-Standard Analysis and Design workshops. Details are in the following text.

For a new implementation, the focus is on evaluating the predefined solution in the sandbox system against the customer's requirements, and gathering configuration data and customization requirements. To accomplish this, partner LoB configuration experts demonstrate the business processes selected by the executive sponsors on the Digital Discovery Assessment in the sandbox system. It's important to remind the customer LoB experts that any change to the standard process is going to create more maintenance work for the organization through future release upgrades, so we are only looking for critical requirements that are absolutely necessary for these customer LoB experts to accomplish their job tasks in the system after go-live.

For a system conversion, the focus is on evaluating and selecting business processes to replace processes that cannot be converted, and evaluating new features the customer would like to add into their future system. Most processes from the customer's SAP ERP system will convert to SAP S/4HANA and be virtually the same. However, a small percentage of the processes are either covered in the compatibility scope, or have no successor and therefore a different SAP Best Practice process should be identified to replace it. Alternatively, the process can be rebuilt from scratch in the target system after conversion. The Fit-to-Standard workshops are only conducted to demonstrate and gather configuration information for processes that will be new in the SAP S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition system. The processes that are directly converted from SAP ERP to SAP S/4HANA will be evaluated for additional improvements that can be made after the Fit-to-Standard workshops have completed.
