To ensure the completeness and accuracy of crucial information, an incompleteness check is performed on both Sales Documents and Delivery Documents.
This check scrutinizes various components of these documents to identify missing data.
Within Sales Documents, the incompleteness check is conducted at the following levels:
- Document Header: the overall document information is verified.
- Items: each item listed in the document is examined for completeness.
- Schedule Lines: any delivery schedules associated with the items are checked.
- Partner Functions: the roles and details of all parties involved are scrutinized.
In Delivery Documents, the incompleteness check focuses on:
- Document Header: the overall delivery information is validated.
- Items: each item to be delivered is examined for completeness.
At every level an incompleteness procedure runs, that verifies if required fields are valued or not.
Two configuration objects govern the incompleteness check:
- Incompleteness Procedure: this defines the list of mandatory fields. Each field is assigned a status group.
- Status Group: this determines the consequences of incompleteness, specifying which subsequent actions are restricted if a field is missing.
For instance:
- Orders of type OR (Standard Order), for items of category TAN (Standard Item), trigger Incompleteness Procedure 20 at the item level.
This is maintained in configuration activity Assign Incompleteness Procedures to Item Categories:
- In incompleteness procedure 20, the Plant is included as mandatory field. If the Plant field is missing in the order item, then procedure 20 activates Status Group 02.
This is maintained in configuration activity Define Incompleteness Procedures:
- Status Group 02 indicates that the document item is incomplete for delivery.
This is maintained in configuration activity Define Status Groups:
Consequently, the order item is blocked for delivery, and the delivery document cannot be created until the Plant field is provided.
By enforcing these checks, the system ensures that Sales and Delivery Documents contain the essential information required for accurate processing and fulfillment.
