Mobile Application Integration Framework (MAIF) provides a highly customizable framework for managing data synchronization between SAP systems and mobile devices. In this section, we look at some of the common configuration changes when implementing standard SAP Service and Asset Manager.
1. Adjust Data Distribution Rules in oMDO Configuration (Mandatory)
Tools – IMG → Mobile Application Integration Framework Configuration → oData Integration Settings → oData Mobile Data Object Definition.
Work Order Data Distribution
Configuration Settings: Work Order Data Distribution
Configuration Setting Change Description oMDO ‘SSAM2205_WORK_ORDER_GENERIC’ operation ‘READ’ filter ‘WO_ASSIGNMENT_TYPE’
Select one of the supported work order assignment type, based on customer’s work management business process.
oMDO ‘SSAM2205_WORK_ORDER_GENERIC’ operation ‘READ’ filter ‘ORDER_TYPE’
If customer server order data distribution is required, enable filter handler rule with input parameter ‘CS.’

2. Select Document Management Service (Optional)
Tools – IMG → Mobile Application Integration Framework Configuration → oData Integration Settings → oData Mobile Data Object Definition.
SAP Service and Asset Manager can support attachment management using SAP Document Management System (DMS), SAP Generic Object Services (GOS), or SAP Business Document Service (BDS). Select the relevant document service.
Settings: Attachment Management
Configuration Setting | Change Description |

3. Define ESRI Map Control Setting (Optional)
Tools – IMG → Mobile Application Integration Framework Configuration → oData Integration Settings → oData Mobile Data Object Definition.
SAP Service and Asset Manager supports ESRI map control on mobile client. ESRI license is not included with SAP Service and Asset Manager license. Customer must have a valid ESRI license to use the ESRI map functionality.
Settings: ESRI Map Control
Configuration Setting | Change Description |
---|---|
oMDO ‘SSAM2205_GIS_MAP_CONTROL’ operation ‘READ’ filter ‘INI_PARAMETER’ | Find row with param. Group = ‘CONFIG’, param. Name = ‘EsriClientID’, specify ESRI Client Id using customers’ ESRI GIS license. |
Find the row with parent param. Group = ‘BASEMAP’, param. Group = ‘1’, param. Name = ‘name’, specify a valid ESRI base map name. Repeat for param. group 2~4. | |
Repeat for param. group 2~4. |
4. Choose PM Confirmation for time recording (Optional)
Tools – IMG → Mobile Application Integration Framework Configuration → System Settings → Define Mobile Applications.
SAP Service and Asset Manager supports time recording using either PM confirmation or CATS timesheet. Only one option can be enabled on the client, not both. By default, CATS timesheet is enabled by standard SAP configuration.
Enable PM confirmation and disable CATS timesheet using mobile application definition parameters setting.
Settings: PM Configuration
Mobile App Parameter | Change Description |
---|---|
Mobile application ‘SAP_SERVICE_AND_ASSET_MANAGER_2205,’ parameter group ‘TIMESHEET’, parameter name ‘Enable’ | Set the parameter value to ‘N.’ This disables CATS timesheet on the client. |
Mobile application ‘SAP_SERVICE_AND_ASSET_MANAGER_2205,’ parameter group ‘PMCONFIRMATION’, parameter name ‘Enable’ | Set the parameter value to ‘Y.’ This enables PM confirmation on client. |
5. Enable Mobile Status Lifecycle Management for Local Object (Optional)
Tools – IMG → Mobile Application Integration Framework Configuration → System Settings → Define Mobile Applications.
By default, work orders or notifications created from SAP Service and Asset Manager mobile client must be posted to SAP system first, before any work can be recorded against them, such as START the work order or notification.
If customer business process requires that mobile user can START work on locally created work order or notification without first post to the SAP back-end system, make the following change to enable the process on SAP Service and Asset Manager client.
Settings: To Start Processes Locally
