Setting Up the Mobile Application Integration Framework (MAIF)

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to explain common setup steps in SAP S/4HANA or SAP ERP system to enable standard SAP Service and Asset Manager application

Setup Steps

Mobile Application Integration Framework (MAIF) must be available in the SAP system. For SAP S/4HANA system with 1911 or later release, MAIF is already embedded in the system. For SAP S/4HANA system with 1610 ~ 1809 release, Mobile AddOn for SAP S/4HANA 1.0 must be installed in the system. For SAP ERP system, Mobile AddOn for ERP 6.3 must be installed in the system.

  1. Activate SAP Service and Asset Manager Standard Configuration (Mandatory)

Tools – tcode SCPR20 (Business Configuration Set: Activation)

Every release of SAP Service and Asset Manager comes with standard configuration from SAP. Standard configuration is delivered as a Business Configuration Set (BC Set), and must be activated. Each standard release of SAP Service and Asset Manager is set up as a separate mobile application in MAIF, with its own dedicated OData services. Customer can run multiple releases of SAP Service and Asset Manager in parallel.

In the SAP system, choose the relevant SAP Service and Asset Manager BC Set and activate. Configuration is client-dependent, so activation must be performed in each SAP client that runs SAP Service and Asset Manager. Activation is performed in the development system. Activated configuration settings are recorded in customizing request, and can be transported to quality and production SAP system.

Each SAP Service and Asset Manager release comes with two BC Sets. Choose the correct BC Set based on implementation scenario.

SAP Service and Asset Manager BC SetImplementation Scenario

    /MERP/SAP_SRV_ASSET_MGR_nnnn_RE

Standard plant maintenance execution business processes. Including usage of asset central, crew Management, customer Service, field operation work.

    /MISU/SAP_SRV_ASSET_MGR_nnnn_REF

Requires IS-Utility specific meter/device management business processes, in addition to standard plant maintenance execution business processes.

    Note

‘nnnn’ from the preceding list represent SAP Service and Asset Manager release no.

  2. Activate Asset Central Integration Configuration (Optional)

Tools – tcode SCPR20 (Business Configuration Set: Activation)

Manager must be used and Asset Central Integration must be activated. Though Asset Central Integration between SAP S/4HANA or SAP ERP and Asset Central Foundation is implemented using MAIF, implementation detail will not be covered in this course.

SAP Asset Central Integration BC SetImplementation Scenario

    /ACI/ASSET_CENTRAL_INTEGRATION

Standard master data and transactional data integration between SAP S/4HANA or SAP ERP plant maintenance and Intelligent Asset Management Asset Central Foundation.

  3. Setup MAIF Number Range Interval (Mandatory).

Tools – tcode SNRO (Number Range Object Maintenance)

MAIF uses the Number Range object to generate readable record id for runtime data. It is highly recommended to maintain these number range intervals.

    Number Range ObjectIntervalUsage

    /MFND/CS1

    01

    Client state record id

    /MFND/DQ1

    01

    Dependent queue record id

    /SYCLO/C_2

    01

    Push instance record ID.

  4. Activate HTTP Services for Configuration and Admin Tool (Mandatory)

Tools – tcode SICF (HTTP Service Hierarchy Maintenance).

HTTP services for the central configuration tool ConfigPanel and administration & monitoring tool must be activated.

    ICF Service PathDescription
    /default_host/sap/bc/webdynpro/sycloActivate service node including subnode.

Run tcode /SYCLO/ADMIN to verify service activation completed. Activate any other ICF services required for Web Dynpro application as indicated in browser.

  5. Assign User Authorization (Mandatory)

Tools – tcode PFCG (Role Maintenance)

Define role with required authorization for SAP Service and Asset Manager and MAIF administrative tasks.

    AuthorizationDescription

    Authorization Object: /SMFND/A01

    Activity: Delete

Admin user who can run system purge utility programs.

    Authorization Object: /MERP/SMT

    Activity: Execute

SAP Service Asset Manager–Maintenance Technician Persona.

    Authorization Object: /MERP/SIC

    Activity: Execute

SAP Service Asset Manager–Inventory Clerk Persona

    Authorization Object: /MERP/FST

    Activity: Execute

SAP Service Asset Manager–Field Service Technician Persona
