Setting Up the SAP Gateway

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to set up the SAP Gateway for SAP Service and Asset Manager

Set up the SAP Gateway

  1. Check Gateway is Active:

    Make sure that SAP Gateway is activated in the SAP S/4HANA or SAP ERP system for SAP Service and Asset Manager.

    In the SAP system, run tcode SPRO to perform the IMG activity: IMGSAP NetWeaverSAP GatewayOData ChannelConfigurationActivate or Deactivate SAP Gateway.

  2. Maintain System Alias:

    An SAP system alias pointing to an SAP S/4HANA or an SAP ERP system and client in which SAP Service and Asset Manager is running must be created.

    In SAP system, run tcode SPRO to perform the IMG activity: IMGSAP NetWeaverSAP GatewayOData ChannelConfigurationConnection SettingsSAP Gateway to SAP SystemManage SAP System Alias.

    If SAP Gateway Hub deployment scenario is used, run this step in the SAP Gateway Hub system. If the embedded Gateway deployment scenario is used, run this step in the SAP S/4HANA or SAP ERP system.

  3. Register and Active OData Service in SAP Gateway:

    OData service for SAP Service and Asset Manager must be registered and activated in SAP Gateway before external use.

    In the SAP system, run tcode SPRO to perform the IMG activity: IMGSAP NetWeaver -SAP GatewayOData ChannelAdministrationGeneral SettingsActivate and Maintain Services.

    Alternatively, you can run tcode ‘/IWFND/MAINT_SERVICE’ directly to perform this activity.

    If the SAP Gateway Hub deployment scenario is used, run this step in the SAP Gateway Hub system. If embedded Gateway deployment scenario is used, run this step in the SAP S/4HANA or SAP ERP system.

    There are dedicated services for each SAP Service and Asset Manager release. Choose the correct OData service to register. SAP Service and Asset Manager OData services follow naming convention.

    Technical Service Name

    Usage

    /MERP/SAP_ASSET_MANAGER_nnnn

    This service is used for standard plant maintenance scenario.

    /MISU/SAP_ASSET_MANAGER_nnnn

    This service is used for IS Utility industry with extra meter/device management capability.

    Note

    'nnnn’ is the SAP Service and Asset Manager release no.

  4. Test SAP Service and Asset Manager OData Service in Gateway:

    Test SAP Service and Asset Manager OData service returns model using SAP Gateway Client. You can launch the SAP Gateway Client directly using tcode /IWFND/GW_CLIENT.

    Use the HTTP GET method and request URI: /sap/opu/odata/MERP/SAP_SRV_ASSET_MANAGER_2205/?$format=xml
