SAP SuccessFactors Service Offering Resources

Employee Central Payroll is a service offering where we are using SuccessFactors Employee Central for maintenance of core HR master data and an SAP HCM Payroll system hosted in an SAP data center for payroll.

Employee Central Payroll is a very standardized service offering where the functional scope of the service offering is described in the "Employee Central Payroll Scope Document" and the distribution of work between SAP Operations and customer are described in the "Employee Central Payroll Service Catalog" (who does what, what can be requested, which rules apply, etc.).

Employee Central Payroll Feature Scope Description Overview

Employee Central is a prerequisite to use Employee Central Payroll. The Employee master data is maintained in Employee Central as system of record meaning all HR events are maintained in Employee Central. Payroll relevant data is either replicated to Employee Central Payroll, via Point-to-Point Integration, or maintained in Employee Central using UI mashups.

Functions and features of the Employee Central Payroll solution are limited to the payroll use case. Don’t use organizational management, cost planning, position-based budgeting, Business Warehouse Datasources, workflow, or time-related self services, such as leave requests, within Employee Central Payroll. Instead, Employee Central Payroll uses respective Employee Central functionality (or a 3rd party certified by SAP) for example:

  • You must have a leading time management system, for example Employee Central Time Off or a 3rd party time management system to cover major time processes, such as absence management and time recording.
  • All integration scenarios can leverage existing interfaces for the integration with Employee Central Payroll (For example infotypes 0007, 2001, 2010). Custom-built solutions based on other payroll or time-related infotypes are permitted to cover gaps.
  • Position and job information needed for legal reporting is replicated to infotype 0001 and Organizational Management is switched off.
  • Workflows and Self Services are done in Employee Central.

Employee Central Payroll Standardization

Employee Central Payroll has a higher level of standardization than SAP ERP Payroll, but the following changes are allowed:

  • Payroll functions
  • Payroll operations
  • Payroll reports
  • Configurations of payroll schema and rules
  • Custom infotypes built in the customer-specific naming space

Customers aren’t permitted to make code modifications or changes to implicit enhancement spots in Employee Central Payroll system. These changes aren’t allowed based on the standardized service offering principle.
