Defining the Benefits of Order Change Management

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to define the benefits of order change management OCM, define a release key for OCM, perform OCM changes.

OCM: Order Change Management – Overview

The following figure asks for:

  • Why are we doing order change management?

  • When do we do order change management?

  • Who needs order change management?

Diagram explaining ECM and OCM tools, highlighting goals, usage scenarios, and who needs them. Includes visual icons for different sections such as a target and a clock.

The following video explains the prerequisites for an OCM process.

OCM: How to Perform Prerequisites for the Change Process

Before you start with an OCM process, you have to do some predefinitions inside master data and customizing.

Watch the following video for a better understanding.

OCM: Process Sales Order

Watch the following video, and understand the OCM process for a Sales Order.

OCM: Master Data Changes

Watch the following video and understand the OCM process for change number based master data changes.

OCM: Changes for Assembly Orders

Flowchart illustrating a process from creating a sales order to changing a production order, including planned changes, simulations, and automatic background tasks. Key steps include identifying changes and checking their allowance.

Required changes to a sales order automatically lead to a change in the assembly order.

Perform the Order Change Management Process

Your customer has requested a change to the original configuration of the sales order that was created in a previous unit. Since the production order has already been released and open purchase orders exist for this sales order item, it's not possible to read the PP master data. You need to determine how changes to the configuration may affect these open orders.
