Ensuring Compliance With SAP S/4HANA

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to explain how compliance is ensured in SAP S/4HANA.

Product Compliance Data in Purchasing Processes

Product Compliance involves managing your products' compliance by evaluating their marketability in various countries and regions, classifying them according to dangerous goods regulations, and ensuring the availability of required safety data sheets for shipping.

If a product is classified as a dangerous good, the system verifies that all necessary dangerous goods data is available and that the product's transportation is permissible.

Based on the results of this check, the system assigns the appropriate status to the item. This item status then determines the status set in the header of the stock transfer order.

The Use of Product Compliance Data in Purchasing Processes

Dangerous Goods Check in Purchasing Processes

If a product is marked as compliance-relevant in the product master, the system checks dangerous goods data whenever a purchasing document is created or edited. For items classified as dangerous goods, the system verifies if released dangerous goods assessments are available and whether the product's transportation is allowed, forbidden, or restricted. Based on the check results, the system issues warnings and may block items or entire business documents.

Safety Data Sheet Check in Purchasing Processes

When a product is marked as compliance-relevant in the product master, the system determines if a safety data sheet is required and if it is available in the necessary languages as a purchasing document is created or edited. Depending on the check's outcome, the system issues warnings and may block items or entire documents.

Supplier Check in Purchasing Documents

In Product Compliance, suppliers can be assessed, and their status can be set to indicate if they are approved or blocked. This status is used during the creation of purchasing business documents to evaluate the compliance status of suppliers for compliance-relevant products. The status of the check is indicated at both the item and header levels.

Product Marketability Assessment

Marketability assessments are compliance checks specific to product marketability, determining if a product can be produced or sold in certain countries or regions. A marketability assessment is automatically created when a marketability requirement, assigned through a compliance purpose, is linked to a product or raw material.

Trade Compliance in Purchasing Documents

International Trade Compliance ensures that international trading transactions adhere to international trade provisions.
