Identifying Sourcing Reporting Methods

Introducing Reports in Guided Sourcing

This video will introduce the different reports available within SAP Ariba related to guided sourcing events and projects. We will see how to access and run the different event reports and how they differ from the analytical sourcing project reports. Before executing sourcing reports, project owners must determine what data points they wish to collect related to sourcing activities. Reports can be used to answer questions like, how much are you spending? You might want to analyze your spending data by event, commodity, supplier, region, or other reportable project fields. You might also want to see who your suppliers are and how much you spend with them on sourcing events. Once you view your spend data through these various reports, you can investigate further by asking where to consolidate. You might want to know how you are spending the money. Are your events and projects completed on time? And what savings are you achieving? After viewing the data, you can investigate operational efficiency. Are there any bottlenecks? Is the workload distributed evenly across your company? What kinds of events and processes produce the best results? Lastly, who is performing? You can analyze your events and suppliers in comparison with your spending, which suppliers are participating in events, and what is their bidding behavior? Using these results, you can determine who should be eliminated and who should receive more volume. Answering these questions is essential before logging into SAP ARIBA sourcing to run the report. They will determine what data elements will be pulled into the report and where the report can be located within the tool. Now, let's see where sourcing reports can be accessed. It is important to remember that the procedure for downloading reports in SAP Ariba sourcing depends on which data you wish to collect, event participation data, or system -wide sourcing project analysis. For sourcing reports with detailed information about the content, rules, responses, and comparison information used in bid analysis activities, the event reports within the More Actions tab of an event are available for download. First, you must locate the published event against which you wish to report. The More Actions menu is in the top right ellipsis points with a short menu download report that includes the event detail reports such as the bid summary report and full bid data reports. While event reports are beneficial when doing bid analysis on a single event level, analytical reports can pull sourcing project data aspects from a system-wide range. Analytical reports capture complete project data elements, provide insight into your company's sourcing processes, and answer questions about system usage and benchmark reports. When creating an analytical report, you can create custom reports or use pre-configured sourcing reports. There is an event reports category in analytical reports, but these will return only high-level event summary information. These prepackaged event reports do not encompass details on individual lots and line items in the event. Instead, they can only include simple measures and dimensions to capture event-level summary data from all qualifying projects. Details such as bidding currencies, lot titles, quantities, and other specifics are captured within respective event reports.
