Exploring the Data’s Journey in SAP Business Data Cloud (Out-of-the-box Scenario)

Let's take a look at the technology behind SAP Business Data Cloud. Discover the journey that data makes when you use SAP Data Cloud Insight App to gain insights into one of your business areas. Business scenarios in different Line of Business applications, such as SAP S/4HANA and SAP SuccessFactors, are supported. The first step is to identify the right Insight App for your business scenario. In the SAP Business Data Cloud Cockpit, you can search for the available Insight App and install the one that meets your requirements. When the installation of the Insight App is initiated, the relevant business data that has already been wrapped together into a bundle in your business application is accessed and replicated to the Foundation Services of SAP Business Data Cloud. Inside the Foundation Services, the replicated business data is harmonized with other bundle data from different business applications such as SAP SuccessFactors. The data is transformed and enriched to become a Data Product. The data is now ready to be used as the basis for analysis. In SAP Datasphere, all artifacts necessary for the analysis are now automatically generated on top of the Data Product. Visual representations of the insights are automatically generated and made available in different formats such as an analytical dashboard. With SAP Business Data Cloud it is possible to extend the results shown in your dashboard with Machine Learning or AI-based insights. To do so, use the SAP Business Data Cloud Cockpit to share the relevant Data Product with SAP Databricks. In SAP Databricks, AI and Machine Learning techniques are used to generate the desired results. These results are then shared back through the data model and extend your dashboard with AI and Machine Learning insights.

Exploring the Data’s Journey in SAP Business Data Cloud (Customized Scenario)

If you decide to extend out-of-the-box Data Products in SAP Business Data Cloud with third-party data, you must first browse the available Data Products in SAP Business Data Cloud cockpit and install the one that meets your requirements. When the installation of the Data Product is initiated, the relevant business data that has already been wrapped to a bundle in your business application is accessed, replicated, and runs through different steps inside the Foundation Services of SAP Business Data Cloud to become a ready-to-use Data Product. Required data model artifacts can now be built on top of your Data Product in SAP Datasphere. This is where the integration of your third-party data comes into play. The advanced integration and data modeling capabilities of SAP Datasphere allow you to integrate your third-party data into the out-of-the-box data model. It is also possible to integrate your existing objects from SAP BW/4HANA into SAP Business Data Cloud. With a dedicated data provisioning tool, you can onboard your SAP BW objects into SAP Datasphere and combine them with the existing data model. SAP Business Data Cloud provides a wide range of consumption options on top of your data model. For example, let's use the AI-based Just Ask feature in SAP Analytics Cloud. The power of its natural language processing allows you to request information from your data model simply by typing a question about your data. Answers are instantly displayed in the most appropriate format.
