The Project Team Interviews

LNA interviews can be face to face, or if that is not possible, virtually via web conference. The duration of interviews may differ depending on the complexity of the functional area. You will need a minimum of 45 minutes to conduct interviews with each workstream lead.

Grace has scheduled interviews with the individual functional workstream leads. Review the calendar invitation Grace sends to Lars Hendricks (the functional workstream lead for logistics) that is shown below. Lars will have a good understanding of what the meeting is about, prior to attending. She will send an individual customized calendar invitation to each workstream lead.

Email from Grace to Lars reads: Lars, This meeting is to discuss the learning needs required for the logistics project team members. I have noted the logistics process areas in a learning needs analysis (LNA) template attached here for you to review prior to our meeting. We will discuss what enablement the team will need prior to the fit-to-standard workshops starting. Then I can start to book training sessions and arrange access to SAP Learning Hub for the team to complete online learning content. Next, Grace will prepare for the interviews by completing the project team LNA template and considering what questions to ask during the interviews. Ideally all workstream leads have reviewed the LNA template in advance. This makes the interview meetings more efficient and allows for more details to be discussed.

Grace will interview all the functional workstream leads. Once she has interviewed them all, she can then map her findings from her interviews to the standard SAP course offerings and SAP Learning Hub content to complete the LNA workbook.

Summarize the LNA results to key stakeholders in a slide deck

Once all LNA interviews have been conducted, the final step is to present the LNA results to senior stakeholders. It is particularly relevant to whoever is responsible for the financial budget of the project, as there will often be a requirement to invest in external training.

The LNA results should outline the skills the project team need to make informed decisions and work productively and collaboratively in the project

It is critical to communicate the project team’s needs, the knowledge gaps identified, and the proposed strategies for addressing these gaps to key stakeholders.

Present the LNA Summary Slides to Key Stakeholders

Grace knows that she must communicate the user LNA results clearly and concisely to the:

  • project managers
  • functional workstream leads
  • 4S project steering committee/ project sponsors

Grace summarizes the project LNA in a high-level slide deck, providing a clear view of the LNA process, target groups and recommendations.

Once Grace has gained budget approval from the senior stakeholders, she can begin to book SAP training courses and arrange access to SAP Learning Hub for the project team to complete the online learning content.
