Uploading Organizational Data into SAP Returnable Packaging Management

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to upload organizational data into SAP Returnable Packaging Management

Organizational Data Structure

Similar to any other logistics application, in SAP Returnable Packaging Management, the company code, the plant, and storage location must be maintained as organizational structure to enable the execution of logistics processes for packaging materials.

The assignments of plants to company codes and storage locations to plants in SAP Returnable Packaging Management must match the definitions in SAP ERP to maintain consistency.

The organizational structure in SAP Returnable Packaging Management is as follows:

Company Code

Given that SAP Returnable Packaging Management does not handle any financial processes, the company code within SAP Returnable Packaging Management has very limited usage. For example, assign self-owned packaging to the company code at the returnable packaging account level.

Plant

The role of a plant in SAP Returnable Packaging Management is identical to its role in SAP ERP. It represents a physical location within an organization's structure where packaging materials are used. When maintaining returnable packaging accounts, the plant code will serve as the designated exchange location.

If multiple SAP ERP systems are to be connected to the same SAP Returnable Packaging Management tenant, ensuring unique plant codes across the different SAP ERP systems is a prerequisite for processing automatic posting documents without error.

Storage Location

Storage location in SAP Returnable Packaging Management is used to categorize the stock of returnable packaging materials.

SAP Returnable Packaging Management treats both inventory-managed storage locations and warehouse (WM/EWM) managed storage locations uniformly. The stock management approach within SAP ERP does not influence SAP Returnable Packaging Management processes. However, it is important to note that the basic scenario for handling packaging material stock in SAP ERP involves inventory-managed storage locations, while using warehouse (WM/EWM) management for packaging material might imply additional implementation efforts.

Procedure

  1. Upload the addresses of the company codes, plants, and storage locations.
  2. Upload the company codes.
