So far, an overview of the new solution SAP Cash Application Add on for Contract Accounting has been given and the measured benchmarks have been shown. Next we will look at which customers this solution will be relevant for now. Therefore, the table lists an overview of prerequisites which need to be considered before implementing SAP Cash App.

  • Cash Application is available for different variants of Contract Accounting or FI-CA. It can be integrated with Billing and Revenue Innovation Management and is also available for different industry flavors of FI-CA, such as FS-CD for Insurance Companies, IS-U for the Utilities Sector or PS-CD for Public Services.
  • To make the solution available for a broad customer base, various releases are supported. It is officially available as of October 2020 for the integration with SAP S/4HANA Cloud and On Premise for releases starting with 1610. A further down port to older OP releases as well as ECC is planned.
  • To assure a good set up of the Machine Learning model, at least ten thousand cleared historical items should be available in the system which can be used for the training process and also for making sure that the developed model suggests the correct clearing proposals. Customers should use the standard clearing process provided by FI-CA as well, so that they can benefit from the SAP Cash App.
  • As Cash Application is based on our SAP Business Technology Platform, customers should have a cloud strategy and should support the implementation of cloud based solutions in addition to the existing system landscape(s).
  • As a starting point, the focus is on English and German, but also other Latin-script based languages can be supported.

Customer Benchmarks

Insight into Customer Benchmarks

RM-CA - Revenue Management Contract Accounting in Telecommunications

The SAP Cash Application Add-On for FI-CA has been developed in co-innovation with different experienced customers. These are customers from various industries, all of them have been using Contract Accounting for their receivables Management process before and are quite experienced with the possibilities the BRIM solution offers to set up a specific clearing logic. In some cases, additional customer specific logic had been developed to reach better clearing results and to improve the clearing rate even more.

  • The items remaining as clarification cases are therefore quite specific and could not be covered with the existing logic as set up in the system.
  • These items caused a lot of additional manual effort for SAPs customers and the resolution process was often quite complex.
  • Using the new Cash App solution, the co-innovation customers could benefit from a better automation degree and a more efficient process with even less manual intervention.
  • The decrease of payments in clarification varies quite a lot from case to case.

The situation at each of the customers has been different and was depending on the specific set up, current clearing logic and set up of payment processes.

  • At customers with a lower decrease of items to be clarified, we had the situation that clearing rules had been optimized upfront as much as possible based on additional developments.
  • The remaining payments were complex cases requiring manual analysis.
  • Considering this background even a reduction of 15% implies significant savings and has a big impact on process efficiency.
