Exploring Performance Troubleshooting

Objective

After completing this lesson, you will be able to explain the approach to performance troubleshooting in SAP Analytics Cloud using a real-world scenario.

What is Troubleshooting?

Troubleshooting is a common methodology for problem solving. It's a way to identify and resolve complex issues not only in IT, but also in other fields and even in our day-to-day lives. Car won't start? You'll probably check the battery or fuel/charge level before calling a tow truck.

Troubleshooting is simply trying to figure out why something doesn't work and find a solution to resolve it.

Let's take a closer look at a real-world scenario where we look at troubleshooting a Wi-Fi performance issue.

Summary

When trying to troubleshoot performance, it's important that we try to gather as much information as we can to help us get to the root of the problem. We start by looking at the most common problems faced by users, their known causes, and any quick-fix solutions.

Once common issues are ruled out, then it's important to take a systematic look at the issue. This is especially important when troubleshooting performance. It can be one or a combination of issues causing poor performance and taking a systematic approach will help you get to the bottom of the issue.
