Creating Prices Using the Product Cockpit

In this video, Milly, the Product Manager, will be adding prices to products in the Backoffice Product Cockpit.  First, she will log into the Backoffice as the Product Manager.  This is the Product Cockpit which is dedicated to managing product related data.  To assign a price to a product, Milly sets its Prices attribute.  She will demonstrate this on a new product. Milly clicks on Products to display the list of products.  Milly limits the products shown to those in the Staged version of the Electronics Product Catalog. Next, she searches for the product to which she wants to add prices.  Clicking on the products identifier allows Milly to edit its detailed information.  The product details page is divided into many tabs.  On the Prices tab, Milly can manage the product's prices.  To add a new price for the selected product, Milly clicks on the Create Price Row button under the Prices property.  Now, Milly can configure the price row by filling in the required information for the new price.  Milly sets a price of ten U.S. dollars.  That price will be per item, which is indicated by the unit; Pieces.  That's the only unit defined right now in this commerce instance, but she might want the option of selling this item by a dozen, by a kilogram, and so on. However, setting that up is beyond the scope of this video.  The scale defaults to one, but Milly could set a higher number so that is the price to apply when the item is bought in bulk.  After entering these values, Milly can either create the price right away, or add more data by clicking Next. For instance, she could make the price specific to a particular customer, to customers assigned to a Price List, to products assigned to a Price Class, or even products that have been purchased using a specific Channel.  Milly doesn't want to do any of that now, so she just clicks Finish.  The Price Row now appears in the Prices list, but Milly isn't done yet.  She must confirm the change to the current product by clicking the Save button.  Once she has saved the changes, the new pricing shows up for that product in the Staged catalog version.  Milly can go on to add more details to the product or start the synchronization process to make it available for customers on the store's web site.  However, that's enough for this video.  Milly can take a well deserved break for now.
